You refer to a grease "chalise" to lubricate the water pump bearing. I read the manual and it said to use white grease on the water pump, but not seeing any place to put this grease, I wrote it off to another inaccuracy of the manual which it is full of.

Could you take a picture of the old broken pump and show where this chalise? is.
Hi Jack,
I don't have a photo of the old pump.
Like you, I could never find it either. But the new pump is identical to the old pump, except the new pump has a grease-able Zerk fitting on top. It also has the grease "chalice" hole on the bottom, just like the old pump. I am posting a photo of the new pump and labeled it to show you where the grease chalice is, just like on the old pump. When mounted on the tractor, the chalice is on the bottom of the pump, just behind the pulley. You may need a small mirror and light to see it?
Here is the marked up photo...

Jock,

I think you will find that the hole pointed to with the arrow is the leak drain - when the pump seal starts leaking, water will start dripping out of the hole. The seal should be on the water side and the bearing will be "outside" of the water paasage. I guess excess grease could also exit via the hole, as well as any cooling water (past the seal).

You probably already knowed that, but thought I would mention it for others and maybe help in picturing what the construction looks like.

Jim.

you just wire-wheeled the paint off the pully and T-stat housing face?

Is it optical, or is the left rear tire low on air pressure?

I really like that new fan belt system. Can it be used on Trucks also. I have an old massey that I might need to do that too.

I just replaced the water pump on my Jinma 204 (TY290 engine). Great fun but got there eventually. Biggest problem was sourcing one (here in Australia). I eventually got one sent from Circle G Tractors to my wife's hotel room while she was in the US. Must have forgot to mention it would weigh a little bit....

I meant to take some pics but most would have been of me sweating in the heat.

Very satisfying to drive around now in our summer and have the temp guage remain on normal - wife is taking a little longer to cool down.
