New water pump leaks

So I just replaced the water pump on my TC29D after removing radiator first. When I got it all back together and filled up, I ran it a bit and saw it had a slow leak. It seems to be leaking from the new pump gasket, a slow drip. I don't know if I didn't tighten it enough, the gasket got kinked, gasket quality, or what. Now I have to decide whether to tear the whole thing apart again and replace the gasket or just live with it and keep adding coolant as needed. Or could I try stop leak? I've always considered stuff like that as snake oil, and have never used it before. What would you guys do?

Take it back apart and fix it.

It needs to be done right. Take it apart and redo it ! Just make sure the mating surfaces are clean with no debris.... Crisscross tighten all the bolts...keeps the flange from warping.

Does anybody know the torque settings for those bolts? I get real worried about over-tightening anything going into the block.

If you have an owners manual look in the front of the book. It should list the torque for all the different size bolts. If not use a torque chart off the internet or use the attached chart.

Well, lucky for me, things must have settled in. I had to run the tractor yesterday to rake out the devastation to my driveway from all the rain we had last summer and the winter and not a drop is leaking. Let's hope it stays that way.

Sometimes you just have to get gaskets moist and let them swell up!
