Been out of town a few days, Danny. I'm sure a lot of the other guys can better explain what "broadband" is than I could. All I know is it uses the same type coax as the cable TV, you're always online (no dialing and waiting; no second phone line, etc. and it's much, much faster).
I see some of the other guys have mentioned what they pay for Internet service. I'd been paying $19.95 a month for unlimited access to Internet America in Dallas, and then I was also paying for a second phone line. I see there's a considerable regional difference in that price also (and wonder whether the prices include all the charges). My phone bill showed the second residential line to be $14.20 a month, but after they tack on the "Interstate Subscriber Line Charge, Expanded Local Calling" and a bunch of other fees, taxes, etc. (none of which are "optional"), it actually was over $21 a month. In fact, two lines (with the only option being "call waiting" on one of them) was costing $48.40 a month.
Of course the broadband service is going to cost even more/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif, but I've forgotten exactly what they told me (and threw away the notes I made at the time), and haven't gotten the first bill yet./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
