Yanmar 1500D
Hello,

I am a new member and a new owner of a Yanmar YM 1500 D. I've been lurking on these boards for a couple of months while I researched tractors and shopped for something within the budget my wife set for me. I bought the tractor from a private party about 1 month ago to do some major landscaping jobs around my house. So far so good and I am really happy with the purchase. The tractor has a Koyker loader, tiller, finish mower and box blade. This is a great site and I have learned a great deal already.

I've attached a picture of my tractor. Any other Yanmar owners out there from Berks County PA?

Rob,

I spent a few years in downtown Philly, and I know that does not count, but I visited Berks county a few times, and you certainly are in a beautiful area. Congrats on the purchase of your Yannie.....and your wife is probably gonna become what my wife calls a variation of the golf widow....the TRACTOR WIDOW!
Seriously though....as a newbie myself this year...the two issues I have found most important to educate myself about have been maintence and safety, and you have found the right place for both. Have fun with and be careful.

Nice looking setup there!/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif But Yanmars are NOT red John Deeres. JDs are green and yellow Yanmars!

No Yanmar dealers in Berks Co that I am aware of. I bouht this tractor from a private individual down in VA. He owned for 2 years and had bought it from a dealer friend of his down in GA. He used it to landscape around his house and then resold it. That's what my plans are but, I like having it around so much I may never resell it.

You've got a good point there!! My wife had never heard of a Yanmar and she was skeptical of me buying an off brand of tractor that she had never heard of. So I just kept telling her it's a RED John Deere and that it was less than half the price of the JD's I was looking at. That was the clincher! She didn't want me to spend more than $5K. I did go over budget a little and spent $6k but it was justified since it came with all the implements I wanted. (loader, tiller, box blade and finish mower).

Yes, that's about how I ended up with my 1401D. I got the tiller, FEL and box blade with tractor for about $5300.

Congratulations on your new tractor. Your situation sounds very much like mine. I got my 1500D a few months ago but unlike yours, mine is just a bare tractor. My budget was lower than yours and besides, I am looking forward to building the loader and scraper. As far as color goes, mine was repainted in JD colors before I got it so I will probably leave it that way.

I have to say, this discussion group is a great source of information and advice.

The going price now in No. Cal for your 1401d w/impliments is about $7800 from what I hear. Stock market down, Yanmar prices up, I guess.
