I don't recall the size of an acre off the top of my head, so I don't know how we compared to the recommended application.

1 acre = 43,560 square feet

The grass is continuing to grow, but we've gotten swamped by rains the past 3 days. My pond's gone up about 6-8 inches since Sunday evening. We're supposed to have sun starting this weekend, so I'll try to get some more pictures on Sunday.

FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY POUNDS?????

here we put 25 pounds to the acre!

It goes quick especially in 50 Lbs bags and when you are starting over - by definition its called overseeding, and by the looks of his yard 450 lbs is right on....

Looks good to me. In no time flat you'll be spending hours mowing just like the rest of us.

So, what’s going on with that yard? I am interested to see your results, with that amount of seed. I made the mistake of going a little too light on the seed, not to mention getting @4’’ of rain in a 3hr. downpour, a week after seeding...bald spots in my yard, but my ditches look great! Heavier is better!

I meant to get pictures yesterday, but was recovering from a the night before (not mine) and didn't make it out before the rains came. It's supposed to rain all day today, so I'll try to get pictures when it dries out a little. The grass is coming in very nicely.

The number I saw online was 43,560 square feet in an acre.

At 11 pounds per 1000 square feet you need 479 pounds of seed
At 14 pounds per 1000 square feet you need 609 pounds of seed

Sounds like we were about right, maybe a little light, according to what the bag recommended.

Oh my Lord! 600 pounds for an acre? Please talk to a local farmer before doing this! I am sorry for being so negative about that, but there IS a point of diminishing returns on this. You know, what I would do since ky 31 is around a dollar a pound is get less seed, but take money and put it into chicken litter for P, K, and N.

EDIT: ok, saw the pics and must admit it looks glorious! sharpen the blades on that mower!

also, what you can do to get a pretty stand is to let the first year's grass go to seed then mow it . anyway, sure did turn out nice.
