New YM2000 owner

Before I found this forum and learned of the dangers of buying a reconditioned gray market tractor, I purchased a YM2000 from Tommy Riley in Seminary, Mississippi. Tommy had many new looking Japanese tractors in stock. I didn’t even know there were gray market tractors. The tractor looked like new, had new tires and the price was good. So far the only problem I have is a small leak in the radiator. I haven’t contacted Mr. Riley yet about the problem yet. I am a bit worried about the longevity of the tractor after reading some of the posts on this site. So far the tractor is running fine pulling the 5-foot finishing mower I purchased with the tractor. I hope I got one of the good ones.

I am also a Yanmar newbie with a Vietnam rebuilt. Like you, I found out afterwards about quality issues with these tractors. On the plus side, I am learning a lot about how tractors work and I have found these things can take a lot of abuse. I would recommend going over it with a fine tooth comb. Mine needed new fuel lines, radiator hoses, gaskets filters and fluids. I would at least change the fluids and filters before you get too many runtime hours on it. When you change the hydraulic fluid, clean the hydraulic filter before you fill it back up. You may also consider gauges for temp and oil pressure. Both are easier installed with the fluids dry. There are several good posts on people in here doing that. 99% of your coming questions will be answered by previous posts.
