My diesel container is blue, but fortunately for me, I can drive the tractor a 1/4 mile to a convenience store that sells both on road and off road diesel (they cater to all the loggers in the area). Makes it simple, as long as I watch for the traffic!

I got one last night. I drained the tank and sed bowl and refilled. Started right up but now it says low fuel???? Got a mechanic coming to service it so hopefully it's just air somewhere and can be drained. I But I now have a bright yellow can for diesel.
Thanks for the reply.

Bill

I assumed you already had yellow cans but just grabbed the red one by mistake. Did you have the red diesel cans labeled? I bought mine decades ago and I don't remember if diesel ones were yellow then. I just remember they only had red ones in the store. I have always kept mine very clearly labeled. I suppose I could convert to yellow cans now but I refuse to buy those clumsy government mandated self venting ones and that's all you can buy now. In some ways I kind of prefer the bright yellow DIESEL labels on my red cans anyway. They really grab your attention and yell at you what goes in them.

I use a gas can for diesel too..
Why do you do that .
You could spray the can with yellow paint.

Because....I can easily distinquish gas from diesel and don't have gas cans (for Gas) that look the same as this one. I'm the only one that puts fuel in it. I may get around to painting, but it's really really really low on my list.

Yes, this was one of my fears when I got the 2520. Everything else in my world runs on gasoline. I went straight out and bought a yellow can with a decal stating "Diesel Fuel". It wasn't just me I was worried about, but anyone else who might have occasion to use my equipment in my absence, or fill my cans with fuel. I wanted there to be no confusion.

It's really a simple solution. :D

I considered that, but at this point frankly think the yellow DIESEL labels are more obvious that DIESEL goes in them than just an overall yellow color. The raised Gasoline letters would still show through. I do understand your concern though.

I am going out on a limb here, but I thought I heard somewhere that a small amount wouldn't hurt, like less than 10% gas. Not a good idea?

Welcome to TBN. Glad you caught the error in time. Sounds like you should be OK.

My diesel cans are red (had them a long time) but I have them clearly marked. I created stencils from a font I found and sprayed the letters onto the cans with yellow paint. Perhaps you could do something similar with your gas cans to grab your attention.

Anybody that can't see that those cans hold diesel better get an eye exam. Those cans are impossible not to see what goes in em'. As for me I have 2 yellows and a blue for diesel and 3 red for gas and 2 more smaller reds labeled for my chainsaw and weed eater mixtures. That labeling in that yellow glows on them cans, a definite clever preventive measure. I would do that too if I didn't have my yellow & blue cans already.
