I just got an L2800 with FEL and 5' International brush hog. As I'm still waiting for a road to be cut to where this thing will REALLY be used, I was messing around with it in the yard - doing work, of course.

I wanted to drop the brush hog, but for the life of me can't figure out how to get the stupid plastic safety cover off so I can access the PTO. I'm pretty mechanical, but just couldn't see an easy way to either get the cover (some Euro-something plastic thing) off, or at least get to the PTO. I didn't unhook the rest of the 3-pt - should I have first?

Anyway, any help would be appreciated. I'm betting its something simple . . . .

Hi Simie
I suppose it's the same plastic cover that was on my L4400. It's just a shipping type cover--has no long term function--so just knock it sideways with a rap from a hammer or a block of wood. I think it's like the cover on a can of spray paint you just pry it off sideways and that's that. My old 8N Ford has a metal cover that screws on and off, as a kind of protection against winding something up on the rotating shaft, like your sleeve or pant leg, but the newer tractors like the Kubota have the hinged metal cover on top for protection.
Maybe I'm missing something but that's what I did
