Schaeffer in your freezer and leave it for a couple of days. Take it out and watch how well it pours. Performs just as well in hot climates with a very high viscosity index.

Guess it depends how cold your freezer gets. -30*,-40*,-50*,-60*

I suppose it does. Don't know too many freezers attached to residential refrigerators that get to -60*. If you're in Kodiak, Alaska in Feb probably want to stay away from synthetic blends. Run a lot of full synthetic Supreme 9000 in the northern states.

You will not find a good oil at chinamart, sorry.

Without too much blah-blah-blah... CJ oil is the current rated oil, CI/CI+ is the former. CJ was developed for use with "regen" engines due to DOC's, etc... CJ is backwards compatiable to older engines. CI is NOT for use with regen engines. Unless you have a tractor with an aftertreatment system, you can use either. As others stated, pick your weight by ambient temperatures and your favorite major brand... you should be ok.
With all that said, the debate seems to come from the removal of most all of the ZDDP... a high pressure additive. Seems to be mainly related to camshaft wear. Personally, I use CI rated Caterpillar branded engine oil. (manufactured by Mobil for Cat)

Excellent post! It CANNOT be emphasized enough just how important it is to use the correct spec oil in regen engines.

What is good bud? Again walfart only carries certain oil and sure they are good but there is way better then oil they sell. Wlafart carrys oils based on what they can get based on price, not quality.

Again what are people looking for.

Does/has anyone used the Amsoil or Lucus products? Down south I don't have to worry about the extreme cold but heat has to be just as bad right?
I have used Lucas in the trans and axles on my jeep since I've had it and I switched from Synblend to Amsoil in the motorcycle but havent really noticed a change in the bike.
I swear by the Lucas in the Trans. Really quiets noizy gearbox.
Anybody else tried these? Are they worth the difference in price? Thanx...

I don't use Lucus products for reasons but Amsoil is a high quality product,they get some of there base stocks and additives from Mobil.

good oil just a little pricey and one has to extend there drains to help off set the cost but not an issue with quality robust lubricants.

yup if you only care on longer drains. But ones has to pull a UOA to see the real difference on you get what you pay for.

I still drain Amsoil way sooner then 25K miles but when you pay thousands for autos, who cars. It is like people buying a 500K home and then whine about installing a top of the line furance or ac..

Oil is cheap and I do not drain at 25K nor 3K either. I find 8 to 10K worked for me (and still using Lc20).

I also live in TX and still use 0w-20. No issues at all in my autos. I LOVE amsoil ATF in trannys and there gear fluid is great..Also use Amsoil in my busa 1300, smooooth shifting.,
