Hello all,
New L35 owner and so far this thing seems real tough and I'm happy with it. But, holy moly... who knew that 4" under the grass it seems as if everything is big rocks! Lots and lots of interlocked rocks. (Upstate NY) I had dug a few areas in the rocks yesterday and did not notice this thing happening: When I get the bucket under a stubborn rock and curl to try and pry it loose it often instead drags open the dipper arm cylinder making a slight sqeeling noise from the valve or cylinder. Again, I did not notice this yesterday. I hope I didn't already damage anything. Is this normal, as a kind of safety feature, or is this an indication something is wrong in the cylinder or valve?

Thanks,
Steve.

Yes, indeed. Your induced load is causing the work-port relief valve in the dipper
cylinder circuit to open.

Bkt curl is the strongest force you have on a hoe, and you induced some really high forces on
other parts. On my tractor, it usually just drags me around. The other day I was lifting a very
heavy log using the dipper. As I raised it, I got to a point that the boom started dropping. Same
thing.

These induced loads, as well as shock-loads are what the "shock-RVs" are there for.
