Newbie CAT 1 / 2 linkage hydraulics question

Do any tractors have dual acting rams on the back linkage, so they can push down, as well as lift up? The reason I ask is if you had, for example, a post hole borer on the rear linkage, with a dual acting ram you could apply more load to the auger than that generated by the assemblies own weight. Just curious as to whether it's available, and if not, why not? Thanks.

I don't know this for a fact, but I think that the manufacturers don't want to take any weight away from the rear wheels and loose traction and the implements would have to be built a lot stronger so that they could hold the weight of the tractor, thus increasing the implement cost. All around bad deal, simpler and more cost effective to have single acting hydraulics. If you need down pressure for a PHD, they have hydraulic down pressure kits for about $500.

As you have seen.. MOST tractors don't have 3pt downforce.. -few- do.
