kubota l3430
I've been lurking here for some time and researching brands and models. I was considering a Deere or a Kubota but was detered from the Deere's casting problems in the new 300x-400x loaders. I will be keeping this machine for years so durability was a priorty. I've narrowed it down to a 3430HST with a 723 loader. It comes with a quick attach feature and the heavy duty bucket with dual cutting edges. The dealer is related to a guy I work with and has had the best price of the 5 dealers I've got quotes from. How does $19960.00 + 3% sales tax sound? I live in New Jersey so I even got quotes from Delaware(no sales tax) and they were $20,900, go figure. I really want a grapple for brush clean up so the dealer said he could add a remote to the rear and plumb it up to the loader for $600. Does this sound right? Please comment with your experiences. Thanks, Jay

Jay:

That price seems fine to me. It sounds like you know just what tractor you want, but if you have any doubts at all about whether or not that's exactly the one for you, feel free to ask, and maybe include some of your intended uses, acreage etc. Experience and helpfulness abound at TBN.

One thing I would suggest is considering (yes, here it comes) the alternative to conventional remotes, especially for a front grapple - namely, hydraulic solenoids. For the front it's a very widely accepted way to go; for the rears - well, you'll see.

Here are some threads you might or might not want to check out.

Again, welcome to TBN, and good luck with your tractor purchase.

Jay,

I recently purchased an L3430HSTC and finally got a couple hours of seat time today. The L3430 seems well built, adequately powered, and I am really pleased with the cab.

Before I purchased the L3430HSTC, I priced out an L3430HST with R4's, 723 loader, and quick attach with the standard bucket, my quote was around $19,900.00, so your quote is fairly consistent with the going price for the L3430, give or take a few hundred for variation from region to region.

However, before you take delivery check the tires over on the tractor. My front tires were made by Titan in November of 2005, and one of the tires has a sidewall separation problem. If you discover the same problem you should get it resolved before you take delivery.

Good luck on your purchase decision.

Jim

First the price doesn't sound too bad and on the remotes I'll throw in with CT Treeguy here, oh no, there goes my credibility.

I have a solenoid valve to operate my grapple and on Kubota it runs off the power beyond on the loader valve.
I have a rocker switch on the loader control handle and you can close or open the grapple, raise/lower, and curl/uncurl all at the same time. This setup is the cats meow and if you do much loader/grapple work I believe you'll like it too.
The price for the Hydraulic Solenoid Valve is comparable to one of the factory remotes from Kubota and if your dealer is not up to speed on this setup, have him contact WR Long and they will help him out.
My dealer had never heard of WR Long until I told him about them, and I heard it here on TBN, and now he is a WR Long dealer and loves their products. (I should get commission) /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Leroy, wait a sec ... you had credibility at some point?? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

OK fine, be that way - you can just go find yourself a NEW source of baseless, biased, unscientific and generally useless information! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Guys if you want a really good grapple this company sells a complete kit including the valve kit for the grapple. This is the only company I know of that sells all the parts you need to do it your self. WRLONG

Well it looks like as soon as the dealer can put it together(still in crate) I'll be taking delivery on the 3430. It looks like the dealer is going to allow me to invoice the unit to my Father who lives out of state and save me the sales tax($600). That will cover the rear remotes and I'll still be at $20,600. I have to say that the people who contribute to this site are very creative and just outright nice. I have read for hours on many different topics and have learned much. After reading many grapple posts I believe I can install the aux. valve for the 3rd function myself. I will certainly try to post some pics as soon as poss. Now I have to decide what to buy first, brush cutter or boxblade.

That sounds fair, my first remote was 600.00 and the second was 400.00, I would definetely look into the HSV system CT tree guy is talking about for the grapple, and probably would have gone that way if I hadn't already had the dealer put them on... I will see hwo they work and maybe change later, the remotes might be for sale...
