Still deciding
The wife and I finally made the decision to move out of the city. We are in the process of purchasing a house on 10 acres. The 10 acres used to be a corn field. It is very flat with no trees (yet). I am looking at purchasing a new tractor that will not run over 15k for the tractor and all of the toys. will be using it for the following things (that I know of):
Mowing Grass (2-3 acres)
Keeping the rest of the field managed (1-3 ft tall)
Snow removal (150ft gravel drive)
Moving dirt and mulch
Planting trees

Will the BX do all of this without any problems? If so, what attachments should I be looking at and what brands? Obviously I will be looking for a MMM. What size and brands are recommended? What is best for snow removal?

Thanks for an suggestions or comments that are made.

Hi Mark, and welcome! Boy, you're asking questions that get asked ever day on TBN. I'm sure you'll get some real good responses, but you can save yourself a lot of time if you use the search feature. You'll find that every question you've asked has been asked and answered a few times over. A lot of the information you've asked about is personal preference. I've been researching my own purchase, and I've made some real good use out of the search feature. Try it - you'll like it /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif!

MIMARK,
Welcome to the board and congratulations for moving to the country. I purchased a BX2200 a few weeks ago.
It sounds like the BX would be a good fit with what you plan to do. I really like Kubota's 60" MMM, and of course like most everone will tell you it is just not the same without a front end loader, you will find many uses for it. I have 75 trees on order now for an erosion control project this spring and am looking at a light duty post hole digger for that. (I have very good soil conditions) You will also need a rotary cutter for the fields, probably 4' if it is just grass. You are likely to get a better deal when buying the tractor and attachments all together. I don't get much snow here and just use the loader and blade for that. One other thing I am glad I got is the front grill guard, it has already saved me some grief.
You should be able to get into a BX with the things you need within your budget. Happy shopping and good luck in the country!

I mow 3 acres with my BX2200. But what gets the most use is the FEL. It is indispensible for moving around dirt and mulch, moving transplanted trees, piling cut down trees and brush, and it has even come in handy moving a freezer from the garage to the basement door.

In this same section there is a post titled " B7500 vs BX2200 or BX 22" . It brings up some interesting points. Have you considered a rear mount finsh mower? When I purchased mine it was about $350 cheaper than the mmm. There are some posts on that as well. Good luck in your search.
