Newbie: Grand L-30 or TLB L-39 at the farm?

BH-90 is not compatible with CAB models but you can get a subframe mounted BH from woods that will work with CAB models. There have been other post with pictures that show the woods BH on a 5030 ...

Thx.

A different way to get a heated, air conditioned cab... a friend brought my attention to the Bobcat ToolCat. I was considering a Grand L-30 tractor PLUS a RTV900 utility vehicle. ToolCat seems like a very versatile machine... lots of attachments, many of them conveniently rentable. No backhoe on the ToolCat, though. I could almost see renting a mini-excavator for some of the backhoe work. Anyway, local Bobcat dealer is leaving the ToolCat with me for a day or two next week. One of my concerns is, the ToolCat can't load itself... will I be running across the farm carrying each grapple load? Bobcat dealer pointed me towards a Towmaster combination transport/ dumping trailer...

Hi, Blake-- yes, ToolCat is pricey but it looks so much more useful than the RTV900. I will have a need to move people, luggage, etc., around my property and I'm thinking the ToolCat plus a gas powered golf car with two rows of seats might be a good fit. But the real issue with this combo is the lack of a backhoe. --Gadget

While you're testing that Toolcat make sure you try carrying a few heavy loads. This is an issue that drove me away from the machine as it has a full suspension which compresses under load. Then I looked at the price with an air conditioned cab (they were talking $42,500) and I ran. You could get a nice tractor and a Jeep for that.

One other consideration on the toolcat from my discussion at the Bobcat dealer; Getting stuck. We have a sandy soil here and he told me about getting his unit stuck and not being able to move it with even an F250 4x4 truck. Looking at the ground clearance, tire size and vehicle weight I could see myself in that same nightmare in the process of land improvement.

I wondered why you didn't get a ToolCat. Now I know.

I sent you a private message. The first page after the login page is "Discussions", click the flashing mail flag there.

Hi, Dave,

I have a ToolCat Turbo and several accessories being delivered to my property for the day on Monday, and I intend to get a feeling for it then. I have a Walker diesel mower on order and I am actually strongly attracted to the idea of buying the ToolCat and a gas powered golf car now, and rent a mini excavator as I need it, or possibly sub that out, in the forseeable future. We'll see how it goes on Monday. I'll post back here my impressions.

I am a greenhorn, though. I had to crack open the John Deere owners manual in order to move the lawn tractor I inherited with this house out of the garage. But I'm enjoying the learning process a lot. These and other forum posts have been a great source of information, and I appreciate your input. By the way, I have not received any personal messages from you, Dave, through this forum. You can checkout my homepage on my profile and email me thru that link if you like. Cheers. Chris, aka Gadgetnut.

I was replying to cheesehead. He and I worked together and after he got his Kubota, I suggested he might get some operating tips here. This is the first time I saw one of his posts.

In the headers to each reply it is indicated in Blue who's message you are replying to. Sorry for the confusion.
