I've got a Woods BH80X that sprung a large leak at the inlet port of the control valve. It only leaks when the pressure relief valve is activated.

The leak is at the connection of Item 6 (Adapter) to the valve body on page 47 of

showcontent

I cannot get an open end wrench on far enough to get a good grip on this adapter. Is there some kind of brake line type wrench I should be using here? Or do I need to take the steel line off the get a socket on it?

This diagram does not show any O rings. Are they implied? Is it a special type of o ring? It appears like the adapter was really hoarked on tight as I can see what looks like munged o ring pieces sticking out.

Thanks,
Tim

That is probably an o-ring thread fitting. The o-ring is available from anywhere that makes hoses, or, it should be. Putting a socket on it may be the best way to take it off. Take the fitting off and bring it with you. Good luck.

If you look at the description for item #6:
Adapter, 3/4 ORBM x 3/4 JICM
You will see that one side of the adapter is a ORBM (O-Ring Boss-Male) so there IS a O-Ring in there.

Remove the line, remove the fitting, replace O-ring and reassemble. There is no thread sealant required on either side of the adapter.

O ring was chewed up pretty bad. Replacing was a piece of cake. Just loosened the bracket underneath the platform holding the steel 90 deg inlet line and gently swiveled it out of the way so I could get a box end wrench on the adapter. Thanks guys!
