IMO 3500-4000 would be a good price depending on the condition (you have seen the tractor ).New loader is around 3k. Used loader should be worth 1500. Then what ever you think the tractor is worth 2000-2500 ?? I have never been able to get an investment back. Some how, I always loose $ when I sell:( A as new as you can get 1500D is a little over 4500 + loader 3200

I don't think $5k with loader is too much IF the condition is excellent.

Another consideration is - as you cross the $5k line you might also find a much later Ford (or NH) etc. Some of the big old Fords with backhoe aren't much more than that. But the Yanmar will have far less upkeep cost.

For the work you described, I would still choose the Yanmar.

I wouldn't give more then 4,000 myself.

$4000 would be a steal........if the tractor and loader is as good as you indicate.....$5000 to $5500 would be a good price. I still think your hours are higher. The 1510D is definitely "grey" market (not a bad thing). The 186D was the equal US model......sold with ROP by law.

could be a grey, the koyker loader says otherwise, never know though. As far as comparable to any old ford, no yanmar is.

It is a grey, if it were american it would be a YM186 not a YM1510. You mean its not a VN grey with the Koyker, mostlikely.

thank for all the info so far!!!!!! another question ive got is what is a early 80s yanmar 1510d worth in way above average condition 400 hours with a 3-5 year old koyker loader everything works perfect?????im thinking 4500.00-5000.00 is that not enough or to much? i really havent found anything to compare it to and i dont want to be in it to deep incase it doesnt workout and i have to get rid of it and get my investment back the owner hasnt given me a for sure price on it he is wanting a offer......

I would say tops $4k. And its not 400 hours its at least 1400 hours there is not thousand place on the meter. Its like the old trucks with 5 place odometers, was is 109K or 209K?

The Japaneese usually got rid of them around 400-800 hours, so it most likely came to the US with say 800 hours on it and someone over the years has put 600 on it here bushhoging and doing loader work. But honestly the price is no different with 400 or 1400 as there is no way to confirm it, you just dont know?

Well look at just the loader I fully imagine it is at least over half what you are willing to spend and the average garden tractor (no pto, not diesel, no locking diff, no 3pt, no 4wd, no powershift etc) with a twin Kohler and 2wd will run you $2500 so jmho $5k is a bargain. ymmv

But doc that is a good way to think, its how i did, but thats comparing a new machine to a 30 yr old totally diff machine.\

If i want to tow and thinking about a used ranger i can get a new one for 20K or i can buy a 20 yr old used f150 for 5k same thing. apples and oranges

Yeah clemson that is one perspective alright but if a guy could afford new he wouldn't be looking at Yanmar tractors at least not yesterday or this week maybe here soon he can.

Naturally I cant speak for what the OP finances are only that he is on here asking questions about gray market Yanmars.

Anyway tractors age so much better than cars that is comparing apples to oranges imho ymmv as always. :)

Yea you right about the age on tractors and cars. id much rather have a 30 yr old tractor to do what i need over a 30 yr old car to do what i need.

But that said the ages of my vehicles i drive

1980 k10 31 yrs 119,000miles several engines (not sure if thats right?)
1990 ranger 21 yrs 285,000miles
1997 saturn 14 yrs 208,000miles

As you can tell im really not afraid of vehicles either though.
