Newbie looking for tractor, overwhelmed by number of models..

if you are serious about buying on Craigslist you have to check the local cities many times a day and have the cash in hand or you will miss out.i bought my tractor 4 years ago it came up and was on the phone with seller and went to look,guy said his answering machine was full but i got there first and bought it.

Good news! I am the proud new owner of a late 70's Yanmar 1700D tractor! It came on Craigslist yesterday, and I called him right away and set up an appointment to see it this morning. It has a few issues which he made me aware of, but I can fix them (brakes and some instrument/light issues, paint). It is a 2 cylinder diesel which runs perfectly, doesn't smoke excessively, and has a loader and rear blade. $3300! That is half the price of other similarly equipped units. This is the perfect tractor for me to get the property mowed (I need to pick up a mower of course), move around the gravel for my driveway, and grade and till everything I need to. I figure I can now take my time finding a larger tractor which I will likely want down the road. The search is over!

Great news !!!! I like your plan to take your time to find a larger tractor. The Yanmar will do a tremendous amount of work in the meantime and it is always nice to have multiple tractors.
