Hello All,
I am new to the board and have never owned a tractor. I have several questions regarding possible purchase of the 2500 series cub. I have a 1.3 acre lot that sits on a slope nothing too steep, but uphill. I will be mowing, pulling a rooler, and large cart.
First is the 2500 overkill? Would I be better to go for the cheaper 1500 series?
Second, what deck is best for my lot, 44,50 or 54?
I found a dealer who has the 05 2550 left. He quoted me 3699.00, same as the 06, althought he 05 has 24 month same as cash financing. Isn't the 05 usually cheaper? Is there any real reason to pick the 05 over the 06? It seems to me the only difference is the seat and metal hood.
Thanks in advance for any advice anybody can provide.

I'd go with the 2500 series. I just exchanged my 2 week old CC1046 for the CC2544 because while it does a GREAT job cutting the lawn and pulling a dethatcher, it didn't seem to like the plug aerator and 44" roller much (wasn't slipping, but was very sluggish).

If you are going to be pulling a decent size roller or cart (with any kind of weight in it) I'd go with the 2544, especially if you have any kind of slope at all.

Good luck!

I would definitely go for the 2500 series tractor as well. They're a great tractor. Not sure if you saw my earlier post, but I have a 2005 2550 w/ 5 hours (not a single blade of grass mowed, just hauling the kids up and down the street).

If you can get a truck to Columbus Ohio, I'll hook you up w/ it for 2950. I'll put some pictures out on the classified section this weekend.

Happy shopping,

I have a 1/2 acre and its not enough machine. But the 1500 series I had was overwhelmed. Get the 2500 series and you won't regret it.

Happy shopping,
1*What would you take for it without the deck?
2*Why are you selling it.

1. Why would you want a 2500 without a mower?
2. This tractor was sold in May.

2. I bought a 5252 and don't have room for two tractors.

Go for the 2500. They are tougher and very solid machines. My yard is hilley and uneven in places. I think a 44 deck will do you fine. I have a 44 on my 2518 and I mow 2-3 acres.
I would go with the 05 if you can get a deal on it. I think the metal hood is better than the plastic ones anyday.
