newbie question on shifting CK20 gear

/ newbie question on shifting CK20 gear #11
I used an old Ford 8N for many years with clutch and no live pto and you just get used to it. Yes, the hst is nice for certain jobs and I like my CK30hst for what I do. If you read prior posts, because the CK20hst has only two speed ranges, some members have posted one is to slow and the other to high and would like something in the middle. In a gear, from prior member's posts, the CK20 gear is an brute, you can find the right gear with only two ranges, and it could probably out pull a hydro. You'll also lose more pto hp in a hydro. From your posted uses and especially if the price is right, the gear will serve you well and you'll quickley get used to it.

You should have no problem w/ the gear given your presumed chore list. My first Kioti (actually, I have Bobcat now, but you get the picture!) was a new 08 ck20s gear w/ Kioti's RFM and BH. It was a great tractor...never one issue other than bringing it to dealer to have "cold start kit" installed.

I put 600 or so hours on it before trading it off for a screaming deal on a new bobcat 335 cab. The 20s did everything I needed it to do on my property (very steep) and the gear was perfect for my uses. The only reason it's gone is because I've unfortunately become chronically ill and had been looking for a cab tractor in order to continue doing at least some things that I had before. The cab tractor allows me to do that and must say that it's one of the best things I have purchased. No more freezing azz, no bugs, dust, sweating and other issues associated w/ open station tractors.

BTW, the ck20 gear has 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds, i.e., 2 range w/ 3 forward and 1 reverse gear. You can (at least I could) shift from forward to reverse or vice versa while moving slowly as the tractor's 1st-reverse is synchronized.

I am loving my CK20S Geared. I like it for the low range power and higher PTO HP over the HST. In low 1, I can't stop the wheels while pushing. I would like HST while mowing with my rear finish mower. Both geared and HST have things they do better.
