Newbie Question: Shuttle Transmission Problems?

I have been reading all of these posts about sticking hydro pedals, and got to wondering:

I have tentatively decided on purchase of a TC40 with shuttle transmission. Does this transmission system have any known problems? Also, is it easy or difficult to work on if it needs repair in years to come.

I've got two years with the TC 35 (not so many hours unfortunately) and the shuttle works just fine. The range lever is hard sometimes...but that doesn't get changed except for travelling to and from a project. Shuttle worked just fine digging out driveway last winter - took about 8 hrs of back and forth to dig the 1/4 mile with the FEL - 6 feet forward, cut to right, dump and back, repeat - though I still have't sprung for the rear blade that would have let me avoid shovelling with a tractor.

Clearing brush last weekend lots of back and forth uprooting bushes and small trees to pile onto the brush pile - issue was FEL lift capcity, not the shuttle....

Those with hydro swear by it...I am ignorant of that bliss...but also have more tractor than I could have afforded with the hydro...so no regrets.

I purchased a TC40 with shuttle shift. I love it only purchased it in July 2003 but have put 103 hrs on it. I wanted the shutle shift because I was used to this with my 2400a international backhoe. I have found no problems so far. Hope if you purchase this tractor you are as pleased as I am.
