I got to use my new 3510i yesterday to fix some holes in my road. Made me feel like a kid in a sandbox again! :cool2:

My newbie question is: do you guys run off-road diesel in your tractor or should I stick with the same pump stuff my truck uses?

/ Newbie Question #2
I use the "on road" diesel fuel, but only because it is more readily available. There is nothing at all wrong with using the "off road" diesel, it is the same stuff with a dye added. Just don't use it for on road vehicles, I here you can get in big trouble if caught.

I buy the "off-road" from a farmer / neighbor. He burns several thousand gallons / year.

The only diff besides the dye, is the road tax that you pay on the regular on-road fuel adds to the cost...

/ Newbie Question #5
I like to use the same pump as truck drivers do..fresher,additives added early for non gelling.

"Adding the red dye doesen't remove the additives or make the fuel stale.;)"

Nor the smell. ;)

/ Newbie Question #9
Thankfully I have a source for low sulphur diesel and use off road for the tractor and on road for my 05' Ford powerstroke.

/ Newbie Question #10
My neighbors son used his powerstroke diesel and used fuel with the red dye without him knowing it for a month or two. Spent lots of money having the injectors removed and cleaned because of the red dye, or so they claimed. It's okay now, but just be warned. He will never use off road in another one o his road vehicles. Sometimes we learn the hardway...................

/ Newbie Question #11
Would the powerstroke injectors be plugged by using high-sulfer off-road fuel in a '07 or later diesel made for low-sulfer diesel? I've used high-sulfer off-road fuel in my '00 powerstroke work truck for 4 years now. I haven't had a problem yet. just glow plugs and the glow plug relay. Don't worry, its a work truck at a rock quarry, so no avoiding taxes here. We've been talking about replacing the old girl for a little while now, and don't wanna ruin a new truck if I can't run high sulfer off-road diesel in it.
