Houston, we have some success.

I bought a dolly at Tractor Supply to see how it would work, and dropped the box blade on it. While an ideal solution would be two dollies or a bigger one for better stability, the single dolly worked perfectly well. I rolled the box blade into the garage and out of the way with no problems at all. This gives me a reason to justify having a concrete floor poured in the shed, I think.

I picked up a piece of pipe at Lowe's last night and used it for leverage with the wrench, and had no problems loosening the bolts on the ROPS. I guess Archimides was right after all. :p

Thanks again for all the helpful suggestions. I may not know much, but I learn fast. ;)

I PM'd Fredster and told him where I thought he lived and he replied back that I nailed it. My grandmother lives in the same area so it was easy for me. I told him when I get back from Iraq we need to have a TBN get together. We have quite a few north Alabama folks here and now a few from Limestone county.

Levers and wheels are wonderful things and yet some of the first human inventions!

Glad to see you got your FX24D working (they are pretty machines), I don't know what all you'll be doing with it, but I'll share something I found about my FX20D with FEL.
When it suddenly stops for no apparent reason, hope like **** you bumped it out of gear. The first time it happened on mine I was really perplexed then came to realize the clutch broke (after my first 29 hrs), and I mean "broke". In an instant you'll have no PTO or transmission, but everything else works grand. After buying the manual and tearing it down I found the clutch disc had sheared leaving a real pretty disc hub and disc annular ring (all the webs that form the disc were sheared). I had the clutch parts re-built locally and re-assembled it and got another 50 hrs before it did the same thing. Angrily I replaced the clutch again with brand new parts (I got them from Frederick's (good people)). It worked so well with new parts, I also cleaned the clutch shaft so it moved freely. Well, this clutch has now broken again and I'm sure it is the same way (I already bought another disc from Frederick's).
Long story short, I wonder about the powershift transmission and it's propensity to load shock the clutch. I normally do a bit of bushhog and finish mower work and I wonder if it can't take the load from everything on it and moving at M2 or M3.
I'm not trying to scare you or anything and I hope yours work better than mine, but it's been a real pain regarding that clutch. I only use the clutch for PTO and starting/stopping the tractor; you shouldn't have to use it for shifts.
I ended up buying a brand new Kubota L3400 hydrostat with FEL; it cost a mint, but it sure is nice!
Best regards!

Is there any adjustment to be made in the powershift mechanism to cause it to engage more slowly/gently?

I'll be watching for an answer to that question!

I learned on and grew up with manual transmissions (still don't much like automatics) so am in the almost unbreakable habit of using the clutch to shift even with the powershift. But, on the occasions I do shift "clutchless" I'm glad of the seatbelt that came with the ROPS. It do tend to jerk a bit.

In all our history we have had one Powershift fail. One. I have had this discussion with several other dealers, and their experiences have been similar. I would be inclined to say that one that caused peripheral damage repeatedly, such as mentioned in an earlier post, had something else wrong that just wasn't apparent. Or I suppose it could be the exception that proves the rule. This is just my opinion based on our experiences with the Powershift.

I am not aware of any way to adjust the Powershift. It was Yanmar's answer for the rental industry, designed to avoid erratic shifting by a myriad of operators, and by reputation is as close to bullet proof as a transmission can be. I have personally mowed with the same 2010 for six seasons now, and I put 50-60 hard hours on it each season....I am not gentle with it. Nary a problem so far.

This sounds like an alignment problem. Wonder if the bellhousing ever broke and was rewelded or something like that. Could also be due to missing bolts holding the engine and trans together.

I've never driven a powershift Yanmar, but are you guys shifting without backing off the throttle, (speed shifting)? If so, you have to expect it to jerk, same as a car or motorcycle would do, (burn rubber. wheelie, or just slam you back against the seat).
