Newbie Snowblower question: Anti-stick coatings for snowblowers

Before you buy it read the chemical ingredients in the stuff that Ariens markets-not healty period. Fluid film is made with Lanolin as its base ingredient and is non toxic.

The Fluid Film seems to build up also. My snow blower is still slick from last winters spraying. Love the fact that it is non-toxic and doesn't stink.

That is good advice, never make a shovel slippery.
I was thinking the slippery shovel idea was great to see what works the best. Great inexpensive experiment.

If everyone did that on every product they bought, the U.S.A. would probably crash.

Mind you - I'm not arguing, just stating an observation.
And that would include a great deal of the food we purchase and consume.

Now, if only I could find a decent snow shovel...

A company called Knight (the makers of Spray Nine) used to make a product called Snow Shooter for exactly what you want to do. I bought a case when they moved their warehouse. Great stuff except to many VOCs and I think now it has been discontinued.Dupont has an aerosol www.amazon.com/DuPont-Teflon-Snow-Repellant-10-Ounce/dp/B07K2JNG3N

If U can, lining the snow shoot with a HD poly plastic will help greatly.
Most poly plastics can be heated to mould and fitted to the shoot area.
Also adding 'wipers' to the fan blades to close the gaps.

The theory is that cold wet snow will stick to metal but not to slippery plastic and seems to work, at least it does for me.
I initially proved this point as I had some very HD 8" poly tape that I lined the shoot with. Worked just fine however stones and gravel soon ripped it to shreds.
I next heat moulded some 1/4" plastic that I had hanging around and that proved to do just the trick.
This fall we had some 5-6 very wet dumpings and I only experienced but a few clogs much to my surprise and those could have been avoided had I not forced the blower into compacted piles of heavy wet snow.

I also have a pusher blade and that is another sticky problem that I plan to address with a plastic liner in the future.

One suggestion is comes spring when you store the blower to spray the bare metal areas with a rattle can of whatever you have on hand.
The idea is that there is bare shiny steel and U want to prevent any rust to form as rust will grab wet snow and then the problems start.
Nice shiny steel will do so much less.
I once tried gravel guard as I had some left over but with limited success, still was better than nothing however.
I do find that gravel guard is great for the undersides of the fenders especially if you have dirt or gravel roads.
