Newbie tractor purchase F16D

I'm new to the Forum and have found the posts that I've read to be very informative. I'm looking at purchasing a tractor and have found a dealer here in Northern California. He has Yanmar F16D with a frontend loader for $8000, 24hr/3 month warranty. Tiller was $400 and I think he said that a post hole digger was $200, can't remeber what he said about the mower.. I saw the tractor at a local farmtest and just made a quick look at it. This is about the size of tractor that I need.
What type of transmission does it have ? Does it come with 3-point hitch ? Anything special that I should be looking for ?

Note that this is a upgrade or maybe a downgrade from my John deere Model LA.
Any help would be appreciated, Lou.

What's that? returnable for 24 hr and parts for 3 monthhs?

24 hrs on the run meter or 3 months.... they will fix anything

Thanks Lou. I never heard of a 24 hour warranty before. I guess that it would work for small grays well though. It is nice to have one, just in case.

Lou, if you wanted to compare the different F series, I have F155D, F16D, F17D, F18D, F20D, FX22D and others in stock in Red Bluff. F18D is noticably larger than the 15-17 models.

Lou,

The F16D is a standard shift with 3 speeds forward and reverse. You will have to look to see if the 3 p.h. is there yourself because I have seen a few sold without the 3p.h.

My F16D has served my needs well. It is a very basic unit. I have found it to be perfert size for cutting trails around the fields with the brushhog,....fits around trees real nice. I have used it for tilling, discing, plowing snow, and digging post holes and it works well.

My gripes are few. Even though its an open platform I wish I had more knee room. I keep bumping my knees on the edge of the dash. I am only 5'10" tall. I wish it had a little more low end power for the post hole digger. I also wish it were 500 lbs. heavier. Like others have said the gray market yanmars seem to have more power than you can get to the ground.

I don't know if I would feel comfortable using a loader on mine unless I had rear wheel weights and a heavy implement in back to balance the unit.

Paid about $4600 with a tiller but that's PA prices. Only you can determine what its worth to you. If I had my "drathers" the next time "I'd rather" get an FX18D.

I too had an F16D that I bought from Buck some time ago. Didn't stay on my lot long!! A really nice little tractor. Runs forever on very little fuel. Nice and light for yard work, won't tear up the lawn, yet enough power for light tillage, small brushhog, finish mower etc. Great little tractor. Hope you find one to suit your needs.
