Well, this pickup may be old, but it looks even older /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif. Its that type of truck that guys keep around for driving back into the woods and hauling out some firewood. Its got real good ventilation, even if you don't want it. And if you put small stuff in the bed of the truck and hope to have it still there after a short drive well....your chances of that are only slightly better than winning the lottery. When I got rid of it, it wasn't quite that bad, but it sure is now. Dumb thing just won't quit /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif. Somebody needs to put it out of its misery.

I can't run with the big boys either.
1989 Dodge W150 215,000 miles and still going.
I can't justify the cost of the new trucks.
I'm 41 and this is only my 3rd vehicle. I only replace when they get totaled. But I am envious when I see the new ones.

Welcome to TBN! Nice looking piece of earth wrecking equipment too!

No crew cab, but I can dream. Would be nice to have 1 vehicle in the place of our Cherokee & Nissan King cab. Only problem is that both of those are paid for, and we're just talking maintenance mode. Hard to justify $25,000 crew cab in place of $1500/year maintenance fees.

Howdy, Redsmoke; nice looking tractor. It looks like you have been tractoring for awhile. How long have you had your tractor and property? Is this picture in town or is that your nicely shaded acreage we can see in the background? 24 acres is a nice size. Since you are in Kansas, is it all pretty flat? Crops? Animals? Welcome, I have lots of questions./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

2000 F150 extended cab with all the goodies (just one time in my life I wanted a luxury vehicle) 18 months old and 45,000 miles --- it's primarily my commuter vehicle but also hauls and pulls my tractor the few times I need it. and commutes us to the country every-other weekend or so. jinman, Only have 200 hrs. on the 4300. Dealer had to tear the whole thing down at 100 hrs. Trans. locked up and 3-point quit. Since then, it's been great. Now I feel like I own a rebuilt tractor though. Been here for 22 yrs. raising racing greyhounds. I have 3 teamroping horses, 1 old faithful, 1 standby, and 1 in training. This is my 4th tractor. I started with a 9N, then got an 8N, then got a JD 750. I'd still have the 750, but money got tight and I reluctantly sold it for more than I paid for it. This 4300 is a great tractor now that my dealer has got all the linkages adjusted properly, but I think the 50 series tractors were better just because of their simple design.
P.S.-I really wasn't trying to show off the truck. It was the only picture of the tractor I had, and I was so wrapped up in trying to figure out how to post it, that I didn't realize the truck was in the mix. Anyhow, it's a V10 with 4.30 LS gears, and, believe it or not, I traded a Powerstroke for it, and I'm not sorry.

Redsmoke, I'm with you on feeling like you have a "used" tractor. I think most of us would have heart failure if our tractors locked up at 100 hours. It happens occasionally to all of them, but no one wants to be the unlucky person who gets to experience it firsthand. Being in the middle of farming country, I'm sure you have a pretty good dealer in Abilene.

I thought I saw some dog pens in the background of your photo, but figured they were for pets. Of course, they say retired racing greyhounds make great pets. ...they just look so skinny./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

With all the tractors you have owned, I'm sure your experience will be useful in the forums. I hope you will take an active role. It sounds like you have a lot to offer./w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif
