Just picked up a used 7235 from a local municipality at auction. Seems to be in very decent shape, runs real well. I've read through the owner's manual, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips or "should do's" or even better, whatever you do, "DON'T DO" this sort of thing. It came with a 6' finish mower, and I plan to run a 4' hog off of it, perhaps pick up a Koyker loader for it next year. I'm not totally clueless on tractors; I had a Kubota L2350 for several years....but this one sure does have a lot more bells and whistles!

Hi Jason,

Congrats on the new wheels. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I had a Cub prior to my Kubota. I ended up getting rid of it due to rather serious issues with the sale and the dealership, not because of the tractor. The cub was very solid and well made.

You said yours was used and didn't specify a year. There was a period there, and mine fell into it, where they had a problem with battery corrosion. The factory batteries were poor and the pan they sat in and the cables just got messed up royally. Take a peak at yours just to ensure its clean. Other than that, my only issue was that it wasn't too easy to start in the cold. If it gets chilly in your area might want to ensure it has a block heater as well.

Enjoy!!!!

Kevin

Nice machine, keep an eye on fluid levels. It will swing a 5' bush hog. I mowed heavy grass for 8 years with one. 8 Ac. bcs

Thanks for your responses; yes, the battery is newer, as are the cables; it's listed as one of the items replaced (on the maintenance records the township gave me). They also provided a list of all parts, numbers, etc....which was real nice of them. For your info, it's a 1996. It appears all the maintenance has been kept up on, but I want to check a bunch of things out before really "running" it.

And I figured it'd take a 5' like you said, Justaplain....I need a 4' to get between my tree rows.

thanks again for all the information!

Take it to the dealer to see if cub installed the modification on this tractor to keep the engine block from breaking. There is a technical service bulletin out on this. I really haven't heard of problems on this website of this but i can assure you this is a problem. Most dealers will deny this
