NH 565 twine, sisal or plastic?

/ NH 565 twine, sisal or plastic? #11
i have a NH 565 square baler and had problems with the plastic knotting. the sisal does very well in my baler. never have any issues with it knotting. other than running out of twine.
Hey guys, I'm down to my last two rolls of NH sisal twine on my 565. I've been thinking of switching over to plastic. What are your thoughts? Does it knot and cut well? Pros / cons?
Hi, I’m new to baling hay (always worked the pick up crew side of things in previous baling experiences) and to this group. Sorry to bother you in an old thread but your experiences with sisal seem relevant. Bought a NH 565 baler from a reputable dealer of used equipment, who told me to use only 9600-170 poly twine. I really dislike the poly twine as it ends up everywhere and doesn’t degrade well. Point well taken that many buyers don’t want poly twine. Found some Lincoln 9000-190 sisal twine online. What issues might I encounter if I switch to sisal? Would I need to make adjustments to baler settings? Is it that big of a difference? The seller probably won’t support the baler if I switch and I know nothing about troubleshooting. Have manual , reading.

My older MF120 square baler has used both in the past seamlessly. I usually utilize Sisal 9000 but could only find Sisal 7200 this year. I have to wait until 2nd cutting to get into the new rolls. I don't think you will have a problem. I knew nothing about Haybines, Rakes, and Balers until I had to buy my own equipment. Read the manual and watch You Tube. Around here TSC & Rural King have a good selection of twine with Rural King having more. Good luck.

565's usually have 3 part twine discs that will run either poly or sisal and case hardened bill hooks (which are required for poly) anyway.

You can run whatever you want in a 565 or later.

Sure seems like we just covered this exact same baler and situation in another thread this week . . .

jmhinpa, In both of your posts, you expressed concern that your dealer "probably won't support" your baler if you switch to sisal. The sisal won't damage anything, so I think the worst that could happen with your dealer is he'd tell you to switch back to plastic if you have knotter problems. (He might say, "I told you so.") Otherwise the "support" will be the same. You won't be voiding any warranty, will you?

Around here, used equipment doesn't come with much of a warranty. If a dealer says it will tie a knot, they'd stand behind that but wouldn't really guarantee that something won't break next week.

I've always said that the guy who designed the knotter assembly was wacko anyway. Have the knotter video that JD put out some years back and the more I watched it, the more confused I got.

Not that I have a square baler anymore because I just sold it but I always preferred poly over sisal because sisal bales don't store well. Mice love to chew on the strings.

One thing I will caution everyone about and that is, don't ever leave any poly stings in the grass and run your mower over them. I guarantee they will destroy the spindle bearings on your mower in short order. Been there did that.

Good points, thank you!

True! I like your tag line at the bottom. No many are haying.
