NH 72\" MMM rear discharge

I am seriously considering stepping up to a TC29DA or the 33, since my 21 developed a slight problem. I would also like to step up from my current 60" MMM to the 72". Any chance anyone has used a 72" or know of any issues I should be aware of? I mow 2.5 acreas of mostly flat terrain, but have an area that has about a 25 degree slope.

Thanks...

I wouldn't recommend it for the size tractor you have. I have a 33 and at times I think it struggles keeping up. I don't let my grass get too high and try not to cut when too wet but I can say my brother in-law has a side discharge and it seems to shoot the grass out and go much better than mine.

He wouldn't be using it on his 21. He is looking at upgrading to a 29 or 33. He wouldn't have any problems then - or shouldn't have any more problems then the rest of us have had with our rear discharge MMMs. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: NH 72\" MMM rear discharge

I have a 72" on my TC29D along with the Gator blades which will pull out some of the horsepower and I have no troubles what so ever. I do have to slow down some on my hills but not enough to worry about. I do have some pretty steep hills in which I pretty much won't mow on sideways just up and down.

Like Jim said, The 72" would be for a new 33, not my current 21. I agree about having to babysit the grass if you want a clean, finished cut with the rear discharge. The reason I don't really want the side discharge is the windrows. Is your BIL's a NH MMM and does it leave windrows?

Are your tires loaded?

Re: NH 72\" MMM rear discharge

TC,

My tires are not loaded. Not sure what that would have to do with HP and handling a 72" MMM. My 72" MMM is a side discharge and it does not make windrows anymore. It did until I put a real thick washer under the shoot to hold it up some. Now my grass goes out at least ten feet. But I still wished I had the rear discharge so I can mow up close on both side.

Re: NH 72\" MMM rear discharge

The reason I asked was you mentioned you mow some steep hills and I was curious how stable the 29 was without loaded tires, on a hill.

...and you answered it already, in another post. Thanks

Re: NH 72\" MMM rear discharge

Yep your right, the loaded tires would help, but I think I have enought weight for the tractor alone leaving dents. I ended up putting wheel weights on my 21 but did not have to on my 29. I have ballast for when I use my loader for the 3 point hitch.
