Rat - When I retired mine (I still have it actually - every now and then I think about restoring it, then a measure of sanity returns and I discard the idea), the driver side door handle had been repaired half a dozen times, the last time with a part I had made at a local machine shop to improve it permanently.

Rat,

It's a Mighty TC18 and I still love it! The board has gotten overwhelming to keep up with! Can't possibly read everything and respond. My brain can only absorb so long as my behind can endure (sitting here trying to catch up)!

Take Care, JimBinMI

Howdy:

My apologies to all in the form of my first reply. I administer another large Internet site and know, full well, how improper diction/word choice can do more damage than intended.

Suffice to say, I should not have been so blunt.

With that said, I'll note that it's of no consequence in my opinion of NH or Case.

Best Regards,
Jay

JimBinMI, glad to hear from you. I've wondered if there had been a problem.

Yeah, Mark, the really bad part was that it was my fault. Of course, I had an Austin Healy Sprite (and I've had 5 motorcycles in the past) and you're right; other drivers don't see the little stuff. The day I bought the Sprite, a dump truck ran me completely off the road, and in the short couple of years I had it, it got hit 5 times; twice parked and 3 times with me in it - none of which were my fault. After the 5th time, I traded it for a new Dodge the next day.

Jay - We're a pretty easy-going tongue-in-cheek bunch around here. The only time I usually get in trouble is when I get to thinking the /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif symbol is obvious enough to be superfluous... /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

As for bluntness, about the only time bluntness isn't tolerated too well is when it isn't accompanied by an "oops!" when appropriate. You obviously have no problems there.

I know one thing: I wish I had a dollar for every time I thought I knew something for sure and didn't...

Bird - If you had a Sprite, you definitely know the drill.

I forgot: I also had dual locomotive pitch air horn pairs, as in two sets of two mounted behind/under the front bumper (if you could call that thing a bumper...). I could just about clear an interstate highway with those things. Of course, I had to be judicious in their use - I think the lights dimmed when I used the horns, so it became a matter of deciding which was the most appropriate...

Unfortunately, I only had the standard horns on the Sprite (I think you could hear it pretty well if you were standing within 2' of the grill)./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif However, the air horns (actually vacuum with a tank mounted in the fender well) on my '56 Mercury Montclair convertible were another matter./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I was a little careful with them after I scared a poor old farmer into running off the road into the borrow ditch one morning and then was sorry I'd done it.

Thats right Jim, how could I have forgotten, a TC 18 (Mighty). Finally received my NH booklet on their tractors. I must admit, they really are pretty impressive. The unique features and some design features certainly are worth noting such as this selective 4WD on the SuperSteer models that sense when 4WD is needed. I also wonder about its 2 speed electric shift setup. How does that work? Is it gears or a fluid adjustment in the hydrostatic drive? Nice to see you back and you are quite right, its been pretty overwhelming as far as the response numbers, I've been pretty selective myself about responding to the "new" TBN, Rat...

Rat,

Sorry, don't know anything about the two-speed electric shift up. I only have the manual shift for High or Low.

Maybe someone with the electric can respond.
