NH FORD?

Hey i'm just wondering about why i hear about new holland and ford. Are New hollands made by the Ford motor company or something? just curious...

Collin, a long time ago, Ford made tractors (still lots of Ford tractors around), but they quit making them and sold that operation with an agreement that the Ford name could be used for a certain number of years, after which they had to drop the Ford name. So after the Ford name came Ford New Holland and finally just New Holland. And now with other mergers, they come from CIH (Case International New Holland), use Shibaru engines and I think the whole company is owned by Fiat. That's the abbreviated version and I hope I got all the facts right. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif At any rate, they make some fine tractors.

Actually, NH bought FIAT then took over Case, and then sold the Versatile tractor line because the law said that they could not own both Steiger and Versatile. Versatile was way more marketable than Steiger, so Versatile was the one to go!! Some of Versatile patents ( All ideas of Peter Pokash & Ray Robinson.... ) were not sold with Versatile. ( Supersteer, and the Bi-Directional Tractor , TV in NHese /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif )

Fiat bought the AG/CE side from Ford back in the early 90's. The Ford name remained in small print until the late 90's. NH/Fiat bought CASEHI and form CNH (Case New Holland)

Fiat owns CNH. CNH doesn't own Fiat
