Hi

I have a ls-190 with a no-start condition.

The small wire to solenoid gives 12 volts when the key is turned but the solenoid doesn稚 click and starter doesn稚 turn. Tried whacking with a hammer said starter and solenoid but doesn稚 help.

Next move is to jumper the solenoid with a screwdriver, raise and lock the boom.

Question is : can I remove just the solenoid or do I have to remove the complete starter and solenoid unit. Also can the bolts be removed from the side access?

Thanks

You will have to remove the starter first, then the solenoid from the starter. Raising the top cover and removing the side cover gives you all the access you need. Getting the boom raised will be a big plus. I had the pleasure of swapping the starter on an LX985 (same frame and engine) once with the boom down. Not a happy memory.

Thank you, exactly what I needed.

Working on a tractor is so much nicer and easier than the ssteer , there is never good access.

Rick,

I’ve not yet exhausted all possibilities of getting that starter to turn but unless I can either get it to start or drag/tow out of the shed then I’ll be faced with removing the starter with the boom down.

So far I have
- jumper across the two studs on solenoid...result was just some few sparks, starter didn’t turn
-jumpered from hot stud on solenoid to small spade connector on solenoid...result is that the solenoid clicked but starter did not turn
- continuity from cold stud on solenoid to ground is good

Will put batteries on charger again just to make sure there is plenty of juice.

Is it safe to drag an ls190 backwards for 40 feet?
I tried to move it with a 70hp 4wd tractor, it wouldn’t budge.

Thanks

You can drag it, but it will make a mess of dirt or sod. Sounds like your starter motor is junk.
If you have another loader around you can lift the loader manually from the grab handles on the boom. You will have to loosen the lines on the base and rod end of the lift cylinders anywhere between the valve and cylinders. Or perhaps you can sit in the machine, buckle the belt, turn the key to on and unlock the safety circuit. Then shove the loader lift hand or foot control into float. This will allow the loader to raise manually without loosening linesor spilling oil.

**Be Safe**

Thanks Rick.
We wrestled with it and got the machine dragged out and the boom raisesd.
it fought is the whole way, despite unlocking the hydraulic pedals we still had to remove the cylinder ends from the boom arms.
Would閾エe been easier if quick connect on bucket allowed us to remove the bucket.
I think whoever came up with the name 雉*uick connect was the same person who named 蜈斬sy out screw extractors.
Neither product comes close to living up to its name! :)

Anyway, starter is out.
Starter seems good , solenoid bad.
Ordered a solenoid for $30, waiting for it to arrive.
