NH Ownership Question

Just curious to why you did not buy from a dealer closer to you. Union is a good drive from southern maine.

Ford who made the yearlier version of these tractors had been making them since 1976 so you can see there is a lot of background for these tractor. As far a resale they are worth just as much on our lot as a used JD or Kubota.

I had fully intended to "buy local" and went to a dealer 8 miles away. I made out credit application and never heard from the dealer. I figured the dealer didn't want my business. I called Union Farm and they were very interested and I bought from them. I really don't know why the closer dealer never bothered to get back to me.

My B-7100 is a very good little tractor. Kubota's present offerings in the Grand L Series seem a little dated in comparison to NH and JD. The Kubota seat was less comfortable, and egress from the right was difficult due to the placement of the hydro pedal and loader control. NH's visibility and loader design appear better than Kubota's or JD's, though the Kubota's hydraulics seemed more responsive than NH's. No matter what color tractor I choose, it will be vastly more capable and comfortable than my old B series... so I really can't lose. I also have a Kubota dealer about 2 miles from my house... awfully convenient.

I'm just having a tough time making a decision.

Mr. Treefarmer, I'd be the first to admit that NH has some serious engineering problems with some of the Class III Boomer's features. I think you need to make a list of the things you have seen on this forum and also the things you have seen on the Kubota forums and decide just what approach you want to take. As a minimum, get your dealer (whatever color) to agree to fix any issue that arises during the warranty period. Most likely, your dealer's response when presented with your list will tell you all you need to know about which tractor is right for you. In my case, I am extremely happy with my NH dealer and I am still very glad I bought my TC45D, despite what might sound like the opposite if you read only a single post I made about a specific problem. Make sure your tractor and dealer are a good fit for you and you will be happy with any of the major brands. Your comments about NH's advanced features are true. I would go to Scamman Tractor since you are in southern Maine.. They are in SACO I got mine there..They have been Great any problem was resolved almost imediately any part I have wanted was in stock. Rick who is often on the parts counter sold me my tractor and is top notch all the time I highly reccomend this dealer. Plus I showed him all my quotes from other dealers and he beat the best one I had by $500.00

I've had my TC45D for 18 months and I've put 250 hours on it. I use it for loader and box blade work. Mine had to go through the transmission recall, and it did so with no ill effects. I work it hard and it perfroms beyond my expectation. I purchased the extended 3 year warranty so I do care if things break. I love the ergonomics and extras NH with their deluxe models.

I just wanted to point out that the NH dealer in Brentwood, NH does NOT carry the Kubota line. Chappell does carry Kubota, but only in there Milford, New Hampshire location. I have been comparing the two brands.

If you want a location a little closer, there's an MB Tractor dealership in Tilton, New Hampshire, that has both New Holland and Kubota on-site. I took Friday off this week to go up and take a couple of test drives.

Dear Maine Treefarmer,
I recently purchased a NH TC 40D with a FEL. I love it. I only have 25 hours on it, but so far so good. I went for the 40 to get the 4cyl and I would suggest the same for anyone. (40 seems to be the low end cutoff for many attachments, as you will discover) Good luck with your search......I finally went for the NH because of the front end visability and operator ergonomics. (no disappointments yet)

I chose the TC45D over the JD 4600 and the Kubota L4610, which was quite a departure after running green for 20 years. My tractor now has 265 hours on it, after 1 year of use, with no major problems. Yes there are a couple of build quality issues that I have experienced such as the loader linkage but my dealer has been very good about replacing parts under warranty. As they build more tractors these issues will get worked out; even my JD 970 had some quality issues (it was one of the first built). I would buy a TC45D again.

It may make you feel better to know that the TC45D was endurance tested with a loader to 5000 hours. I do not know what thier quality targets were but I would assume that it had no major mechanical or structural issues during the test.
