NH Supersteer An exclusive feature??

Do you have any experience with the Big 100 series Ms?

We saw them (M105S) at the dealer meeting and were very impressed with them. A longer wheelbase tractor with a much shorter turning radius. 105 hp engine and 93hp PTO, 4 cylinder, turbo with intercooler, 2WD or 4WD. I didn't remember the bi-speed turning feature and will have to check on that. The 16 X 16 trans like the M110 and M120 is a great transmission.

What makes is more difficult for loader work??

Also, anybody know why no other company offer an equlivant of Supersteer on there tractors.

Mostly because it isn't needed. Just a bit of added bling.

Most of the guys around here that go for the Supersteer option use it for orchard work. Works real good in those close quarters.

If I didn't need it for a specific purpose, and did a lot of FEL work, I would not -and did not- get the Supersteer. Those NH CUT's turn real tight without it, especially if using the split brakes.

Murph I agree with you. Most of my work is finish mowing on 9+ acres so the SuperSteer is right handy. However I did get the FEL to play once the mowing work is done. It's so easy to take the 17LA off that I do not mow with it in place.

My experience is much the same as this. It has been several years now since I owned a TC33DA with supersteer, but I used the tractor for mowing mostly, and it was great, No, better than great it was fantastic. It took a little getting used to loader work with it, but once mastered, not a problem But for all of its praise, I would not own one here in Branson, with all the hills I traverse, the thing just turns TOO sharp, and would get me in trouble here. So summation: if you are on flat ground, and mow mostly, cant be beat. If you live on hilly ground, better get the standard axle. IMHO

The specs show my TC40DA w/o SS has 127.5" turning radius at 54 degrees (no brakes). SS is a 113" turning radius at 75 degrees. The 8N is the same as the TC40DA w/o SS. With SS and split brakes you could almost turn on a dime.

How does the supersteer get you smaller turning radius. My LS tires turn till they almost hit the frame. It couldnt turn more unless the axles were wider or had smaller tires. I dont know what the turning radius is and the website doesnt list it, but it is pretty small without the brakes. How is this measured. Is it by making a circle with the tractor and then measuring from center of the inside tire cirle to the center of the tread on the inner circle or from the center of the circle to the outside tire circle center of tire tread.

I found some additional info on my tractor on a UK website that lists a 55 degree steering angle and 125.9 turning radius. That isnt bad for a 72 HP Tractor with 86.6" wheelbase and 157.08 overall length, figures out to 1.45 times its wheelbase and it doesnt have Super Steer.

Supersteer not only turns the front hubs (normal steering), it also turns the entire axle (similar to a little red wagon). The mechanics of this is very simple yet very ingenious.

If I remember correctly the the steering cylinder is attached to the axle instead of the hubs. The hubs are attached to fixed points on the frame. As the front axle rotates, the hubs also rotate. This provides a much tighter turning circle.
