NH TC33DA backhoe clearance problems?

 / NH TC33DA backhoe clearance problems? #11
I just bought a NH TC33DA w/ suppersteer, 15 LAS Loader and a Wood's 7500 Backhoe. expect delivery next week. The dealer advised me not to get the NH Backhoe because of the clearance problems. He said they had never had a problem with the Woods. The only problem with the subframe I understand is that if you are running a MMM you have to remove the subframe. No problem for me since I use a rotary cutter but could be a hassel for other folks if they plan on using the tractor for cutting a lawn. I'm new to the backhoe but not tractors so I'll let you know how it goes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's right.

( and the 3pt is still fully functional to use with other attachments as normal with the BH off? )

Yes. Though I do have to disconnect the stabilizer bars on my lower link arms to get the backhoe on (just to get the 3 Pt arms out of the way... if I were willing to let the lower arms hang down really low, I could probably leave things connected). You may or may not have to do this with your set-up; I'm not sure if your TC33DA varies a bit from my TC33D as far as how the 3 pt hitch fits in with the backhoe.

( Do all Woods BH with subframe mounts have the 4pt? )
Only their newer model subframes have this set-up. I don't know of they have the newer model out to fit every model tractor yet. I got the first one my dealer sold to fit a NH TC33. They older Woods subframes were more of a traditional set-up.

( Which Woods backhoe model do you have? )
I bought a used Woods 7500 backhoe that someone had been using as a 3 point hitch mount... then waited for about a year for Woods to come out with the new-style subframe for my tractor. For the 7500, conversion from 3 Pt hitch mount to something that would fit on their new 4 pt hitch was pretty simple. Unbolt a few parts, bolt on a few different parts, and it was ready to go.

( I went to the Woods site but did not see any detail pictures or drawings showing how it attaches and works. Well, I saw I picture but it was not of much help to me. Do you know of another site that has more detail info about the 4pt?)

I can't be of much help there. The best thing I could recommend is to find a dealer who sells the new model subframe and get a look at it. I believe the mechanics of mounting/dismounting of the backhoe onto the subframe is the same regardles of what tractor it goes on (other than whther you'll have to mess around a bt with the 3 Pt hitch).

You guys are going to make me wish I had the Woods BH. I like the BushHog fine, mine is a subframe. To use it the lower 3ph arms have to come off (not much of a problem), the subframe stays with the bh and it's pretty easy off and on (or at least easier with practice); now if I want to use a mmm, then there are 4 mounts that with 4 bolts each that the subframe mounts too - I have to take those off off of the tractor. I don't have the mmm yet, it's on the way. I have taken those 4 mounts off and it's no big deal.

Just wanted let you know a little of the difference between the Bushhog and Woods. I do like the pto pump, I don't think the TC30 pumps enough by itself, I would not want a 3 pt mount bh on a small tractor. Seems to me it would be too easy to tear the tractor up.

I suggest you contact Woods Engineering Department directly. They faxed me the installation instructions for their new BH6000 subcompact backhoe so I could see exactly how everything connected to my little DX24E, and it answered all of my questions as to clearance, strength, etc. You can also ask them if the subframe will be ok with a MMM on the machine you're looking at, because on the Subcompact, the subframe was designed to NOT interfere with the MMM.

Thanks, I called Woods and they gave me the installation manual number for the TC33DA and I pulled it up online. That was very helpful. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
