Does anybody have any experience of operating or owning a TD5050? I have been looking for a tractor in the 70 to 90 hp range with a FEL to use on my small livestock and hay operation.
This is a economy NH in that HP range. Roughly quoted to me in the $40,000 range with a loader. It is made in Italy.

I have been looking at Deere,NH,Kioti,Kubota,Mahindra,Montana,McCormick and still open to any of these.

I have TD75D and my neighbor has 2 TD95Ds which are same as TD5050
they have been flawless operating and I cant really say anything bad about them.easy to operate and plenty of power, also easy to service.

Thanks for the feedback! They have everything you would need at a very good price. What kind of work are you using them for? How many hrs?

Hoosier,

I have the red version of the TD5050, the Farmall 95. I also still have an older version of the tractor, the JX85, which was built in Turkey. I'm not happy with the JX as it had to have the synchro replaced at 185 hours. They had to split the tractor, etc, and it cost $4500 to do it.

Anyway, I use the FA 95 for haying, mowing, winter feeding, basically everything on a 320 acre cow/calf operation. The new TD version has the same engine that is in the TL or T5050 tractor and it is much smoother than the older model engine. There were many other improvements and the cab is much quieter.

It is a good, economical tractor for utility and hay work around the farm. BTW, the JX is currently on the "trade in" list and it may be replaced with either a Kubota or JD as the dealer didn't treat me well on the JX work, IMO.

Thanks,

I too am looking at purchasing a NH TD series tractor. I am looking at an 2007 NH TD80D with 180 hours. I has a NH 820 FEL, Open Station, 12x12 Shuttle Tranny, 2 remotes, Ag Tires, 3d Function on Loader (ran off of a Fasse Valve/electrohydraulic switch), bucket/grapple. Price is $33K. I am currently running my operation with a Farmall 460 and an 8N. I think that this tractor will do what i need it to do but am willing to go bigger because I would rather have more than enough rather than not enough. I have 40 acres in west central Montana on which I run some horses and various 4H critters. I put up 30 acres of grass/alfalfa hay with the tractors I mentioned and a NH 660 RB, NH 575 SSB, NH 499 Mower Conditioner, NH 57 Rake. This new tractor will be asked to do it all as well as put in posts with a worksaver HPD 20 pounder, 18" pasture harrow, 8' back blade, and 12' offset disc, as well as snow removal. I think $33K is a good price but would really enjoy hearing what some other think. I grew up with Ford/IH tractors, the ones I have are from my dad and grandad, so I haven't looked at much else so far but if the quality is not there anymore and I have heard that it isn't then I will have to go to the quality.
Thanks in advance for the input,
Matt

twabscs: Hi, I see you've got the Farmall 95 and a JX, but you said you'd probably replace the JX with a Kubota or JD. How's the Farmall 95 doing, how do you like it, which Kubota are you looking at?

I've looked at the new Farmall and Kubota's, just looking for feedback from a Farmall 95 owner.

Hi Pillar,

There were significant changes between the JX series and the new TD / Farmall tractor. The JX's were assembled in Turkey and I think the new series is assembled in Italy. They also use the TL engines now. I'm happy with the Farmall so far, but I have just 60 hours on it. The engine is much smoother and the cab is quieter as well.

My JX had a synchro issue at 185 hours and I couldn't even get the shuttle in forward or neutral. I had to back it onto the trailer to take it to the dealer. The mechanic called it a "Zetor" and said he has lots of "problems" with the JX series, but who knows. That was in early August and I don't even have the tractor back yet. Case is paying for half of the repairs but I'll still be out about $2500. I'm not real happy with how it played out so I'm just looking around, mostly because of the dealer. Also, I'm now about 40 miles from the dealer whereas I was only 7 miles away on my old farm. The closest dealer now is JD so it just makes sense to check them out.

The bottom line, as always, is the quality of your dealer.

BTW, the JX had it's issues one month after I bought the Farmall otherwise I might already have a Kubuto or JD. I may end up with two Farmall's if I can get the dealer to work out a good trade-in deal for the JX, but that doesn't look promising at this point.

Oh, which Kubota. It would be something in the 9540 range. Even an older 9000 if I can find a good one.

If any one is following my JX85 saga, here is the latest. The dealer called today and said my tractor is finally ready, just 4 1/2 months after I took it in. :) They were very sorry for the delay and even though estimating a $4500 bill for the work, it finally came down to just around $700. CaseIH contributed all the parts and some labor so that helped a bunch. The tractor was a bit over 3 years old at the time and the CaseIH warranty is for 2 years or 2000 hours, whichever comes first.

The issue was a $3 seal that ruptured and allowed the synchro lubricant to leak leading to the eventual synchro failure because of excess heat. The mechanic said this is "somewhat common" on the JX series and that it is fixed on the new models, just FYI. They had to remove the cab and split the tractor to repair and replace.

Anyway, I'm feeling much better about both the dealer and CaseIH, and right now my salesman is trying to locate a new TL90 or TL100 (or Case U series) as they have best incentives right now - $3000 off and 36 months at 0%. I'll let you guys know if/when I pull the trigger.

Now that is nice to hear. Really instills faith in you when people bend over backwards like that to help out.

Keep us posted.
