Well Brent, if it is leaking, hopefully that's a sign it is already loose rather than having a corroded hole in it. It sounds to me like your dealer's service manager gave you very good info.

I probably won't get to this 'til sometime over the coming weekend...need to borrow the 6 point socket, or buy or rent them...so I'll report back once it is (hopefully) repaired. Thanks to all that responded.

I have seen this problem many times, and repaired it by replacing the fitting. I don't however remember using a six point socket, but use a crowsfoot, ( a wrench that you turn with a ratchet ). I think the nipple that the drain hose slips onto sticks out too far to get the socket on it. I have cut or broke the nipple off, then used a socket. The other problem I have seen, after replacing the fitting, is the threads for the shut off leak. The fix to that has been, remove the brass shut off and wrap it (heavily) with pipe tape. Great idea using the crowsfoot. Any idea of the size that is needed, as I will probably have to rent or buy it.
Also, are you referring to the valve where the two hoses come together (both fom the engine drain and radiator)? I thought I might just disconnect both hoses and drain both into a bucket.

Well, I spent a better part of yesterday (Saturday) trying to locate a crowsfoot.....in standard meassure, it takes a 1 1/16 inch. Sears, NAPA, CarQuest, everywhere I tried, nothing over one inch, or the equivalent in metric. Finally found a set for $50 at Northern Tool at their Burnsville MN flagship store.
The wrench worked great, after removing the fuel filter assembly, but the nipple broke off, so I'll have to get a new one (or order it) Monday.
The threads on the fitting were a bit corroded anyway, so it makes sense to replace it, and I'll put in a new fuel filter at the same time. Noticed that the threads on the fitting were clean...no trace of any pipe sealant. Thanks for all of your assistance!

Picked the part up at the dealer late Wednesday, also got a new fuel filter as I had to pull the old one to get access. This new fitting also has a drain plug on it.....must have changed technology after six years, as mine was built in late 97. Going to work on it this afternoon...so I'll let you all know what happens.

All fixed...just waiting for the coolant to cool orff so that I can fill it again. As techinNY suggested, I wrapped the brass drain threads with pipe tape...no problem. Thanks for all of the assistance!

Brent, glad to hear you were successful at fixing your problem. I'm sure it was easier than hauling your tractor in to your dealer to have the repair done. Everytime you fix something for yourself you gain more confidence. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
