The term is 'knife register'. As pictured, yours is not contributing to the cutting problem.

I took a quick scan along the cutter bar and I don't think it's a stretched bar situation. The only thing that seems a bit too long (in my humble but not especially experienced in this matter opinion /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) is the length to the first tooth on the inside.

Also quickly ooked at the drive arm, no apparent INDEX adjustment (certainly nothing like the simplistic arm on a spline idea is mentioned earlier <blush>).

It sounds as though it's all pretty much as it should be, so I'll have a shot at tuning the guards, and will likely replace the inner one just for good measure.

Hopefully next season the cutting will be easier anyway as it will be a lot earlier for the "first cut" /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif.

cheers, Andrew

For what it is worth, i use an older NH 467 moco, which has a 7 ft bar. I have found that new guards and sharp knives are essential for good operation, but that plugging will happen, especially in lodged conditions where the material is all tangled. If there is a lot of dead material (common in an uncut field), this also contributes to the problem.

I have also found plugging next to the inner shoe can occur if i do not pay close attention to where the mower is tracking and I wander into cut material.
