Nice 5' Befco Tiller

DOn't know much about these tillers.. There is a Befco T40 tiller 5ft used for $600 here locally, I am thinking about buying?? Are these good tillers? It is chain driven and looks to be in good shape, I have never owned a tiller so what should I look for in used.. Good price or not?

(in short) Good, yes, see if it's tight no play when you spin the pto back and forth, YES, very good.

Its a very good tiller and thats a good price. Check to see if there are any broken or missing tines. Check the gearbox and see if it has oil in there. Don't take much just as long as there is some in there.

See if the guy will trade for your new to you boxblade or wait to you finish the next 6' packer.
Like mentioned by Bilrus61 and Teg, Befco does make quality stuff(IMHO).

That is a problem, you'll have to know beforehand if something is a good price or not. Good deals don't last that long, I have "won" a few items by offering $10-20 more then they were asking for. Worst case is let them know you want to look at it first... saying you're interested in looking at the item (you don't have to buy it). BUT if the photo is really good, it's what you need/want at a good price... I've actually committed to buying an item before even seeing it...

I don't even need another tiller but would have jumped on that one... to either re-sell it or sell mine and upgrade Win some, Loss some... who knows, maybe the owner knew there was an internal problem and he priced it accordingly...
