It just seems odd that you would spend time in the Mahindra forum stirring things up when you dont even own one, whats with that?

Ernie, I use tractors for a living. I try to learn as much about all the brands as possible regardless if I currently own one or not. I never know when I might find a good deal on any brand of tractor and by following these "non-blue" threads it allows me to learn.

I am not stirring anything up, all I am doing is trying to have a discussion in a discussion forumn about a topic that found interesting. At first I did not know what this program was all about, then the more I learned (and thank you for the great explanation Jsupport) the more I realized this program is basically an owners manual for people who either have lost theirs, can't read/understand theirs or just are too lazy to look things up on their own. Anything technical then this service is really not going to be helpful as a dealer will almost always ask the very same questions the call center asked when talking to the customer and trying to determine the problem.

While most of my main tractors are blue it is because of the great dealer I have located within 1 mile of most of my fields and 2 miles from my house. I have a green combine, red implements from all different makes and a lot of non blue antique tractors. I don't rule out owning any brand of tractor or implement.

Robert, keep on posting, please. I don't think anyone wants you to stop, as they say they are just curious.

I, for one, just like to see your cool farm name pop up on this site. Us northern Minnesotans like whitetails, especially in the frying pan.:)

By all means keep posting here and anywhere else within TBN where you have an interest and something to contribute. :) You are an Elite member of TBN, you own several tractors... and you clearly bring a wealth of tractor-related experience wherever you chose to go.

Whenever I go into a forum or thread where my interest or intent is not obvious, I always go out of my way to explain my purpose or personal interest in joining the discussion. I try to be aware of folks feelings and am cautious with what I post so as not to be perceived as an outsider with no real stake in the topic at hand.

Let's face it... we have all run into those occasional instances of brand bashers simply out to make a little mischief. Informing folks right up front of your own personal interest or intent regarding a topic goes a long way toward addressing that natural reader curiosity.

Dougster, I do not feel people have to explain themselves or feel like they have to justify "why" they want to post on a topic. This is a public board that everyone should feel like they can post regardless of what they own or might own. Heck, we even have Bird who doesn't even own a tractor anymore posting on here more then anyone.

I understand brand bashers but no where in any of my post can it even be construed that I was bashing or devaluing the Mahindra tractor line. I have said right along that I felt this was just a very expensive owners manual while the money could have better been spent either putting the owners manuals online or better yet have the manuals and parts programs online. This way you don't have to keep paying a bunch of people to answer a phone. I have learned a long time ago that if you want to learn something "AND REMEMBER IT" then you have to look things up yourself. If you rely on someone else to tell you what you want to know you will never remember it (unless you have a great memory).

The problem was I went against the flow of blind support of this program. The only way this or any program will improve is to hear feedback. I still do not think a call hotline will be very useful. A board like TBN is great because you can chat directly with other owners and dealers and post pictures to help explain the problem. But as I think you found out, this board is way more useful then the 24/7 help line Mahindra is trying out.

What I am curious about is where Mahindra is hoping to take this service? What is the goal? If 24/7 help is the goal then why not help the dealers set up their own 24/7 mechanic that can go right to the tractor like a lot of the larger dealers do? I know it will be a lot of work to get setup but Jsupport even said anything technical will just be referred to the dealer anyway. Why have a middle man answer a phone, just set the dealers up. That service alone would sell a lot more tractors then telling people you have a 24/7 hotline you can call "if" you have a problem. If you are going to toss money into something why not toss it back at the dealers to better product support.

What I meant was that TBN members shouldn't feel like they need to explain themselves. If they do then it is up to them but it shouldn't be needed.

As for you going against the flow, that was allowed because you are part of the "club";)

Well then, there's only one solution left. You need to buy yourself a Mahindra! :)

I have friends that own Mahindra's, does that count:)

Actually, the one just came over last night that was having trouble with his machine. We gave him a small disc to try and work up his food plot as he can't go slow enough for the rototiller to work well. I didn't even think to ask him if he got his problem fixed as I was on my way back from seeding an alfalfa/timothy field. They are nice tractors but the local dealer here is not someone I feel comfortable with. I have thought about adding another 50+ pto hp machine (2wd and cab) to replace the 640 but then the orchard/vineyard deal came up and that tractor took priority. Who knows, some day I might have a red tractor out in the fields if a good deal pops up then I will belong here:rolleyes:

Have a good one.

Well, MahindraUSA offers the 7010 CAB (actually made for them by TYM like my 4110) with 63 PTO HP... but it is 4WD. It's a *very* nice tractor... wish I could afford one for myself! :) Maybe once I move up to the land of "Live Free or Die"! :D
