No problems so far with my setup - The Farmi 501 is simple to operate and very well made. The only time my clutch has slipped was when I was trying to pull out a log that was still attached to the stump, that was still anchored by the roots. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
The TN75 has plenty of hp to operate this winch. I'm not sure why anyone would want to go to the next size up as the 501 and TN75 seem to be a good match for me as far as ratings and capabilities are concerned. A 36" white oak log, 16ft long, should weigh appx. 7200lbs, so winch should pull it, however I have not had any experience on this size log yet. It is also recommended to pull logs from the smaller end, not the butt end.
The winch pull speed is determined by the amount of pull the operator exerts on the rope - the harder you pull the rope the harder and faster the winch pulls. I usually run the PTO around 1500-2000rpm when operating.
I like to try to keep some extra weight on my front end (log in grapple) when I am pulling as I don't like the front end of the TN coming up on me -
Make sure you have a heavy duty top link on the TN - and I would also recommend you consider purchasing the Farmi quick release pully - It is pricey, but worth it if you need to pull anything that is not in a straight line.
I really like having a grapple too. Compared to using chains on a bucket, there is no comparison - load is more stable, less on and off time hooking up chains, and will pick up anything from rocks, to brush, to logs - plus you can see thru it. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
PM me if you are interested in any purchase/supplier details, or if you have any additional questions.
Good Luck and Be Safe!
