The winch motor is only attached with three grade 8 bolts that are much smaller (supplied by the winch manufacturer) so if anything gives up it will be these bolts. Those four 12 mm bolts will hold the plate just fine. I did not want to drill the extra holes since the only way to do that is to crawl under the machine and drill from the bottom.

i'm just worried that if you do pull down on that winch with a load the back of that grey plate is gonna lift up and after time it will loosen up the front bolts or break them. thats why your winch has the bolts holes set up in a 4hole pattern to keep it setting down on the plate no matter what angle your pulling at. tha way you have it you can pull straight ahead/sideways. but if that load is anlged downwards you are gonna be putting the full force on them bolts on the front because you have the winch hangin over the front and there is nuthin to keep the rearend down. is there anyway you can hook it to a nice sized load and pull downward on it to test it out to see if the back comes off the plate??? i would atleast try to put one bolt there while your installing it.

The four bolts through the mount into the plate are larger than the three bolts holding the winch to the mounting plate. If I use it and see any movement I could always add the extra bolts but I doubt very much that there will be any way that it will move. I can always place an eye bolt in the back and hook my winch hook to the eye and secure it out of the way. The only time you would put any downward pressure on the bolts would be if you were dragging a tree or something up a steep slope. Most of the pull will be straight or up slightly.

thats what i was worried about you said you was gonna be dragging trees and stuff around your property . i just didn't wani it to bend and messup the bumper if you pulled down on the winch thats all but if you thinks it's gonna be ok thenit's gonna be ok i guess.
