My prior post was about how I didn't like the fact that the PTO shield didn't flip up. Well today, my problems escalated times 10. If I could do it all over again I would never, and I say never by a Mahindra tractor again. My tractor after 20 hours is completely broken down in the garage and is not going anywhere. I called the dealer where I bought it and they said it's my responsibility to get it to them. That's really nice except for the fact that the 6000 pound tractor with my tiller is broke down in the garage. I called the dealer and they stated that on Monday they could get to it. I asked them if they had a mechanic that could come to my house and they laughed. Tomorrow I'm having the tractor hauled to the lot and dropped off on the front lot by my brother in law. I'll let everybody know what happens...

PS...I was tilling my back yard for an hour and totally lost the back hydro power but the front end loader works...the engine is also ideling really odd and it almost feels like I'm losing engine pressure...it feels like the engine pressure is dropping and then the hydo's go dead. Wait till tomorrow and it's in the front lot. Oh yea, when I bought the tractor, the dealer praised about how good their service department was.

:confused2:What is engine pressure? Does the tractor have remotes? Maybe a remote is getting activated and forcing fluid thru the relief valve and disabling the 3pt lift.

Dido not sure what engine pressure is?

I don't totally understand the problem based on description

Sounds like a hydraulic quick connect is disconnected or almost. They can look connected and still not be connected to where fluid will flow correctly. If you drove over any brush, it could have caused the problem.

Sounds like several problems exist. Fuel flow will cause erratic engine surges. Flow problem could be because of bad fuel, plugged or partially plugged filter. Several hours of tilling with a PTO shaft that is too long could also cause big time damage. Who cut and siezed the PTO shaft, owner or Dealer? Is the tiller the proper size or oversized and laboring the PTO system? I know a few Dealers that will make "House Calls" on very large equipment. Small tractors they usually like the owner to bring in. This is the same level of service I have received for all vehicles, cars-trucks that I have owned. Dealer provides warraanty service after vehicle presented at dealership. As to the PTO shield that will not "Flip Up", visit local tractor salvage yards and see if one off another tractor will bolt on or will bolt on with modification. Be careful about going to far antagonizing the dealer, he is the one that will have to repair your tractor. Tractor dealers are not like car dealers on every corner. Some are having to transport a tractor for many many miles to reach a dealer for service. Roll Back Wreckers used to transport tractors are not cheap. I have a friend who paid for transport of a tractor 150 miles one way. Good luck on repairs.

The tractor has fresh fuel with diesel stabilizer added. Not sure why the engine pressure is going up and down. I'm not a diesel mechanic by any means. I agree with Gator by being careful not to upset the dealer. I'll transport the tractor on Monday to them if I can get it loaded on a trailer. The tiller is a King kutter 5 foot, so this is well with-in the limits of this tractors capability. As far as the PTO shaft size, it's a slide sleeve (not sure if that's the correct name). I measured the shaft to assure it has enough shaft length all the way down and up. My neighbor who has had tractors for 20 years said the shaft size was okay. I'll have to double check on the remote line to make sure it didn't get knocked lose. One more piece of the puzzle, the front end loader is working just fine, so obviously it's isolated to the three point. It's just really odd that the engine is acting funny and the rear remote won't go up or down. The PTO shaft is turning just fine.

Do you have hydraulic remotes or not? If you see 2 hyd connectors on the back of the tractor that is a remote hyd connection for a hyd implement. If the lever controlling the remote [different from the 3ph lever] is operated and held in operated position by its internal detent mechanism, then your hyd pump is forcing fluid thru the relief valve and using several hp doing it, thereby causing an extra load on the engine. The fluid for the remote comes from "Power Beyond" at the loader valve -- so the remote will not affect operation of the loader, but will prevent the 3ph from operating. Check this. It could save you a trip.

Most tractors have a 3 point hitch speed control valve that if you shut it off the 3 point hitch will not work. Look in your owners manual and see where your valve is located. Most are located just below and in front of the seat and I have bumped it closed to many times to remember.

the ones ive experienced just affect lowering speed -- not raising.
