Nightmare senario...lost my oil plug and oil

I put one of those rubber plugs in because I stripped my oil drain bolt....and blew the plug out. Lost my oil, the tractor started running funny and stalled. This was after probably about I would guess from tracking the oil trail, about 3 or 4 minutes without oil. I will have to put the stripped bolt back in and replace the oil to see what the damage is. Do you think I wrecked my engine? Thanks Brad

I'm impressed...you must feel every relieved.
I wouldn't worry about too much engine life...it is what it is.
You might want to properly fix that stripped bolt thing.

Not if, but by how much?
Impossible to predict.

Yes, you shortened the life of your engine. It would be hard to tell by how much without tearing it down and going through it, which doesn't make sense. Repair the drain plug issue properly and keep a close eye on the oil and plug.

Yes, you shortened the life. Depending how long you keep it, it might not affect you for years. Find someone to install a heli-coil in it, pronto!

I once had a mower that ran out of oil and stalled. Refilled started and sounded good. A month later KABLOOOEY ......... BIG hole in the block . Hopefully it does have a low oil shutdown.

I wonder if it does have a low oil shutdown as it just reved a couple of times and died....
