Unless the BX2200 is different than my BX1850 the only oil source shut down would have been the oil pressure switch. Quick check to see if this shuts the tractor off is to unplug the wiring connector and see if the tractor will run. I suspect for stationary generator duty that is an option but not sure if it is also used on the tractors.

Exactly why I never buy used.

You shortened the engine life but by how much - no way to predict without tearing it all down. Good sign is you refilled it and it runs without knocking or making any other bad sounds. Could have stalled because the aluminum pistons heated and swelled in the bores until the load became too much to keep running. Cool down, refill with oil, pistons are no longer stuck. If it were mine I'd keep going watching for signs of damage that might show up. Change the fresh oil that you put in soon. Wouldn't hurt to have the oil sampled for wear metals at like 20 and 40 hours from now.

May we have the tractor serial number so it may be logged as one not to buy

No, the BX engines are not like the cheap generator engines that will run out of oil in less then 24 hours and need a low oil shutdown switch, if the tractor shut down on its own there is a need to worry.

It is great that Kubota has enabled many people to have their own tractor even though they should not because they are not mechanically inclined. An expansion oil plug is not an appropriate fix for a stripped oil plug.

So to avoid this, what should the oil drain plug torque be? I changed my L4240's oil Sunday and in the absence of any torque specification I used 20 foot pounds. This bothers me because 1) it's a steel plug into an aluminum hole and 2) it's lubed. I always use a torque wrench on oil drain plugs since splitting the pan of a Honda motorcycle 25 years ago.

Tighten an oil pan drain bolt snug, then 1/4-1/2 turn extra; but don't over-tighten it. It's a 'feel' thing, that once you've done a bunch you know when it's tight enough without over-tightening it. NEVER use an impact wrench on a drain pan bolt.

You may want to change the oil filter cut the old filter apart and see if there is any metal in it.
