Removed rear seat stud to fix threads on my Ford 3000. Seat was loose and I thought I'd tighten it up.

Now however, the 3 point arms lift very slowly, and will not lift an implement. I am gathering from reading posts that it has something to do with the draft control plunger.

Can anyone shed some light on how to get the 3 pt to work?

Thank you

Checked the hyd cover schematic. Seems like that pin engages a hole in the draft control plunger.

Am I assuming correctly that if I loosen the draft control mechanism and push the plunger in until I see the hole, I can then put the pin back in?

Thanks

Seems like I cracked the eye on the plunger. Do I need to pull the top cover to remove the plunger? I have removed the draft control spring assy.

I'll try to get a look at mine within the next couple of days and let you know

I finally got around to taking apart my lift cover. The seat studs on mine don't touch anything inside my cover though. I have a 3500 but from my books they look the same

Zombie, Thanks.

Since I posted, my service manuals arrived. I pulled the lift cover. The rear seat stud is a stop for the draft control mechanism linkage on a 3000.

I may as well give this closure.

It was a new to me tractor, topped off the fluids and gave her a workout of bush hogging before I started fixing/tinkering anything, just so I knew where the weaknesses. After an hour I figured out I was sitting too close to the dash and went up to the garage to adjust the seat. One thing led to another and I had removed the seat studs to fix the threads. Got it all back together and no 3 point. I assumed it was that rear bolt with the pin that goes down into the hyd lift cover.

Long story short, I bounced the tractor around enough to dislodge all the sludge from the hyd reservoir, which then clogged the mesh intake filter for the hyd pump.

It's a relatively easy job to pop the cover, pull the pto out a bit and clean or change the intake and outlet filters.

Glad you got it figured out. Check that all the clamps are tight that hold the suction line in the pump. I think mine is the same as yours and the suction line slides into the pump and seals with an o ring. Mine came loose and cavitated the pump, losing all 3 point functions.

I had to pull all that to braze the hyd connections under the right foot board. Someone did a RTV party on the mating surfaces at the pump. Snugged up good with the right o-rings.

Thanks for your input zombie!

Ah gotcha. Does your pump have o ring faced connections on it then? I think I've seen some pumps that were. My suction line actually goes inside the pump about an inch. It's amazing how much sludge and stuff ends up in these sumps.
