no down force on 3 ph

I have a 1955 IH 300 utility that has down force on the 3 ph. I really like it, you can put force on your disk or anything behind it. If you get stuck you can put something under it and raise the back of the tractor to throw something under the tires or have a flat you don't need a jack.

I have a TC 29D; was useing a subsoiler today and I hit a "hard" spot in soil which caused alot of force on the 3 ph. It then pushed up to top of soil and I now cannot grt it to dig back into soil. 3 PH will raise and lower; but it acts like there is no down force. I can stand on subsoiler and 3 ph will pick me up and I can lower it, stopping at any position, but when I try to sink the subsoiler into ground; it will not go in. There were no noises when it stalle dthe tractor and stopped.

Your 3 point hitch would fold-up if you try to add downward force. It is not designed for downward force.

I had one also. There was a pin you could pull to let it float.

Greg, I got that 300 in 1988 it was a one owner and a very nice tractor, it still is. But I did not know about the pin you spoke of so I went out and looked. I see a pin on the left side in front of the leveling crank is that the one?
