Thought I'd help my sick neighbor today and mow a couple acres of his overgrown field/backyard. Caught the corner of his chain link fence with my cutter. An hour job turned into an afternoon of fence repair. Oh well.

No Good Deed goes Unpunished------------Murphy's Law.

The real question is: Could you live with yourself if you weren't the kind of man who helped a neighbor in need? I couldn't, so if that has a cost.. so be it...

Some day you'll stand and be judged.... The mowing will be a point in your favor, and you and God can have a laugh about the fence...

Plus...doing the right thing just makes you feel good... Thanks for helping your neighbor...

Regards,
Chris

Yes - but my neighbor (who we do help A LOT) is my wife's ex.

So was the fence hidden? Or was this operator error?

It came out of nowhere! No I just wasn't careful. 3" to the right and I would have cleared it.

Wish I could blame it on that, but no. If that had been the case, I could have aimed for the "post on the right" instead of the one on the left or middle.

Usually when I try to help somebody it costs shear bolts. Bent medal or some other discouraging things, but I still help whenever possible.

OP, sad to say, but I suspect that most of us who have tried to help someone else have a story or two about the experience we've gained! But I guess most of the truly good people just can't stand by and not offer to try to help.

The true measure of a person is what they do for others who can't help them back. Thanks for being one of the good ones!

Several weeks ago I was trailering home my new B3200 at night. For a mental pic of what occurred...my tow rig is a 2001 F-150 SuperCrew, 18' H&H tiltdeck (total length is 43') and was loaded with the B. While crossing a large high traffic bridge (about 1/2 mile in length), I noticed a guy pushing a car the other direction less than 1/8 mile onto the bridge. I just had to turn around and investigate. He ran out of gas and had two elderly ladies in the car. They said the cops were coming but not sure when. Meanwhile dozens to trucks are driving by offering no help. I grabbed a strap from the truck, hookd to a rear D-ring on the rear of the trailer and flat towed him across the bridge...so behind me, the trailer (and tractor) is a 15' strap then a Buick Park Avenue!! The cop showed up as I was rolling the strap back up and muttered something about checking my trailer to make sure it was legal (it is) but I acted like I didn't hear him (traffic was wizzing by) and drove away. I figured being bothered by them for illegally towing that vehicle would be the devil in this situation but didn't let that deter me.

Though I have been bitten by doing good deeds before.....I still do them.

Good for you. Doing the right thing, is something that is just part of many people's makeup and all too often under-appreciated.

Sometimes we help and sometimes we are helped.
