I've read about the horror stories on getting the blade bolts out on various types of rotory cutters so I decided to give mine a try.

My Frontier RC 1060 is a 2007 in very good condition. I bought it used just last Fall. The blades aren't that bad but I really wanted to get the bolts out.

I sprayed PB Blaster on them once a day for a week. I used a long pipe for leverage and the nuts came off and to my delight the bolts dropped right out with the blade for both of them. No beatin' and bangin' to be done here. You talk about happy, I sure was.

I know getting the blades and bolts back on isn't the easiest job in the world but if thats the hardest thing I'll have to do on the RC I'll be happy.

I read your thread earlier before I went to town, and decided to buy some. I bought a can of PB Blaster for $4.27 - 11 ounce can at Home Depot. I have always used Liquid Wrench or WD-40 in the past. Hopefully it works as well as your post indicated. Thanks for posting.

PB blaster is really good. I do a lot of mechanic work and I use it a lot. It'll really eat rust and loosen stuff up.

Glad to hear those blades came off. They can be tough.

Never heard of that. Thanks. I'll check it out. I'm always looking for a better rust buster.... :)

I took two Harley transmissions from 1936 and a 1938 and let soak in kroil for a week and every fastner came right off. These two items were so incrusted with rust, you would swear they spent the best part of this centery on the bottom of a lake. Its hard to find and expensive but worth every penny to me..

I have real good luck with John Deere penetrating oil. I am sure John Deere doesn't make it. If I could find out who does I am sure it would be cheaper. I have sprayed stuff with wd40 and not had luck with it. Spray a little JD on it and let it soak for a few minutes and it comes loose.
