Most of us have watched the North East and have felt for the repeated blasts you all have been getting out there. Here, the story is so different.

No enormous snows, but continual, dribs and drabs, 2 or 3 inches every freakin' day!!! With the cold, nothing has melted for a over a month. It adds up. If I didn't like snow, I would not live here, but this has gotten to be a pain. I'm getting tired of the frequent cleanup and really, really ready for some kind of thaw.

None on the horizon.

There is more than one way to get 60" of snow. I'm not sure which is worse, continual snow piling up, or two or three big blasts.

bp fick,
I feel for ya , I would much rather have the big storms come though, then like you said the 2-3" stuff every other day . After a while It's like it's not worth it to go though all the motions of repeating the clean up when you go to dump your bucket and it's not even 1/2 full . Then again , if you leave it and you get some wet stuff come though then a cold snap again makes for a frozen mess , I rather keep it cleaned up.
We've had the cold days in a row but its still nice to get the 20-30 degs. days too . I vote for give us the BIG ONE'S:thumbsup: and save the fuel:D:thumbsup:

bp,
Been that way here in upstate N.Y. snowing lightly now and about 1" more piling up. Like you said every three or four days 2" to 4" and I do get tired of going out and firing up tractor or blower and getting out shovels to clean up the nuisance snow. But from what the weatherman said last night, we are suppose to get a bigger storm Wednesday night, hummmm, we'll see.

same here- keeps piling up, howevere we got a few mini thaws that helps to make driveway and sidewalk to be clear if it been cleared previously. Its snowing here now, but I doubt it will be much.

After seeing your post I stepped outside to snap this pic, just because yours looked so familiar. We had a bit of melting yesterday, with temp hitting 42 deg F, but they say that's done for now.

That's why I have a tractor with a blower and a truck. If it's just an inch or two I'll just make a quick pass with the truck and after the banks start to build up some I'll take the snow blower to it. Around here it's more likely what falls in December will be around in March so you get use to it or move.

My wife laughed!!! That was her photo I used above. "So funny!!" says she.

Well we are going to get our shot. So far this year we have had about 35" in Northern Indiana but now in the next 48 hours we are looking to get a 1 1/2" of ice then followed by 10" to 24" of wet heavy snow and 35 mph winds. They are just not sure yet on the total snow amount. We currently have about 8" on the ground at my house so this will be interesting.

I had to run to the Lowes store and then Menards store and saw more than 25 people with generators in the cart. Last time we had a ice storm followed by snow we lost power for 8 days. I talked to the manager at the Lowes store and he told me by noon that day he had sold nearly all of his 100 or so gennys in stock.

This is all to start tomorrow night just after rush hour so the timing looks good for that.

Interesting to say the least. Sounds like it's gonna be pretty ugly!

Time to go into survival mode!

We are getting that 48 hour storm starting Tuesday, I didn't hear about those huge totals here but snow, rain, freezing rain and sleet. We've got record depths on the ground now.
I cleaned off a guys carport today, a flimsy aluminum structure, I don't know how it still stood, I was afraid to go up on it.

Watching the news now, they just said storm will impact 28 states.

We are getting hammered but we did have 2 days with a little sun (flurries to ) giving people a chance to breath a little and catch up on the trench warfare. It's amazing how fast the snow goes down when the sun comes out, not the piles but the open areas, sides of the road, drives etc.

As far as which is worse, IMO it's easier to do two 10-12 inch clean ups than one 20-24 inch clean up. The heavy dumps really stress the equipment and snow piles up quickly with no melt or evaporation between say the 2 smaller storms.

1st pic is on customers roof. 2nd is the "Donner Pass" I have to cross just to go from my house to the shop.
