No magnet in new trans filter

Recover a couple magnets from a computer hard drive. They'll stick and work.. but be careful handling two of them.. as they can come together and pinch you real good.
After the first 50 hours, likely the screen has captured most if not all the loose filings from the system, and I wouldn't bother with magnets after that. just me... and an opinion. ;)

They will stick to the outside of the filter by themselves but I don't think they would be strong enough magnets to do much, if you read the filtermag frequently asked questions tab, they give their whole spill and sells pitch and why standard magnets don't work like theirs.

When I was doing my 50 hour service I spent an hour or so looking for the transmission drain plug washer, I filtered the old oil with a pair of nylons, nothing, I looked on the floor, nothing. The washer was stuck to the case and was the same color metal as the case and the washer is painted black into the case, making it look like part of the case until I popped it off with a screw driver. So if anyone can't find the washer after you remove the drain plug I hope this saves you some time and aggregation.

My main drain plug washer did the same thing.

I have the actual magnets from the original filter. I'm just wondering if there is really enough value to them at 300 hours to make a mess and waste a quart of fluid to put them back in.

Probably not. These tractor have been just fine with no magnet in filter. For long time.
